Pretty difficult to suppress entirely passive IR missiles. Especially when it's just some random dude in a treeline standing up and shooting his wad.
The pilot has just enough time to say blyat and reach for the aidos handle. |

Whatever funds are currently in Russia can still be spent but those are increasingly worthless. During WW I that blockade and the subsequent civil unrest it generated directly contributed to Germany's capitulation, so it's a useful tactic. |

Where do we find the F-16s to give? Poland doesn't want dusty block 15 jets plucked from the boneyard. You can't go to Lockmart Motors and grab something off the lot. Greenville is making block 70s but they're spoken for. Same for LM/FW. Supply chain issues are pushing deliveries to the far right. The only thing that might make sense is if Spangdalem gets forward deployed for a long period of time. Aviano is having trouble with the locals so USAF/USAFE/EUCOM might want to look at rotating for a semi-permanent presence.

This. They will have to contend with the problem of finding airfields or roadways that haven't been bombed out by ballistic/cruise missiles on top of maintenance, fuel, armaments, etc. This is a nice public gesture, but Russians will just turn them into burning hulks if friendly fire doesn't first. |
