There was a highschool near me that had redskins as their name. Never heard anyone local complaining (and there are multiple reservations surrounding this area including some that have blocked I90 with burning tires so if the native Americans had an issue with the mascot they would have been vocal) but some out of town group came in and started shit and they caved and renamed

Some group keeps coming after the Atlanta Braves every few years. I'm surprised they haven't caved but glad they didn't.

That is why I stopped listening to them all.
They are like politicians. They can be completely wrong prior to the game and after the game, they talk and explain the loss as though they were right along.

I would get fired for being wrong as much as the weather person and experts/analysts are.

Back from Vegas. Only managed to watch the Bills/Fins game while I was down there. Hit really well on the Bills on the money line. Only time I would be glad they won. Here's some morning stats!

Raiders have had 1 first down rushing in back-to-back weeks. The last time they did that in consecutive games came in Weeks 15-16 in 1997. They are the 7th team since 1991 to have 2 or fewer first downs rushing in first 2 games of the season.
The Raiders had lost 49 straight games while trailing by 10+ points until yesterday. They had the 3rd longest streak behind the Texans (51 straight) and the Commanders (88 straight).
TE Brock Bowers now has 13 receptions though his first 2 career games. The most by a rookie tight end in NFL history.
Last week Austin Seibert was watching the NFL on TV. Yesterday he kicked 7 field goals which is tied for 2nd most in a game in NFL history.
Derek Carr is now two games away from tying Andy Dalton for the most regular season QB starts all-time without a playoff win.
Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie aligned across Ja'Marr Chase on 17 of 38 routes (45%), including four routes in press coverage. McDuffie allowed just 1 reception for 4 yards on 2 targets as the nearest defender against Chase.
Chiefs star RB Isiah Pacheco, who left the stadium in a walking boot and crutches, fractured his fibula based on initial tests.
Travis Kelce's streak of 113 consecutive games with 3+ receptions was snapped.
Bryce Young was just 1/6 on passes at or beyond the 1st down marker. 7 yards, 1 INT.
The Panthers are now 2-17 under Bryce Young.
Based on EPA, Caleb Williams is off to a slower start than Bryce Young last season.
Caleb Williams' 2.59 second time to throw was 6th fastest in the league, but he was still pressured on 36/37 throws (44 total drop backs, with 7 sacks).
Caleb Williams is currently on pace for 0 passing touchdowns and 2,270 passing yards for the season.
Presently, four running backs have 200+ yards on the season. Three of them did so with 46+ attempts. League leader JK Dobbins (266) has just 27 attempts.
John Harbaugh now has the most blown double-digit 4th quarter leads of any coach since at least 1991. Sits at 9 blown leads with the Ravens. Andy Reid now solo in 2nd with 8.
Gardner Minsher is 2-0 vs Ravens in Baltimore during the last 2 seasons.
The Ravens are now 2 games under .500 for the first time since 2015.
Bo Nix is 2nd player since the merger to throw 2+ INTs and 0 TD passes in each of his 1st 2 career games. Mike Machurek did it for Lions in 1984 as a backup in Week 6 and Week 9 (didn't play in between those games).
Alvin Kamara has 10 touchdowns in his last 7 quarters vs Mike Zimmer.
Through two weeks, the Saints are the only team in the NFL that has yet to trail in a game thus far this season.
Trevor Lawrence in his last 7 starts: 0-7, 1,652 Pass Yards, 10 Pass TDs, 10 Turnovers, 81.9 PR.
Jaguars are 1-7 since week 13 of last season. That's tied with the Panthers for the worst record in the NFL over that span.
The Bengals are 0-2 for their third straight season.
Bucs NT Vita Vea is believed to have suffered an MCL sprain in today's win over Detroit, per source. Optimism entering the MRI on Monday that it's not too serious.
Kyler Murray's 98.3 is the best QBR game in the regular season since Dak Prescott in Week 18 of 2021 against the Eagles (98.9).
Kyler Murray became the 2nd player in NFL history with 250+ passing yards, 50+ rushing yards and a 158.3 passer rating - the highest attainable mark - in a single game. He joins Ken Anderson, who accomplished the feat on Nov. 3, 1974.
At end of regulation, Patriots TE Hunter Henry had 109 yards receiving. No one else on the team had more than 12.
The Minnesota Vikings are 2-0 for the first time since 2016.
Marvin Harrison Jr had more receiving yards in the 1st quarter (130) than his father had in any game in his rookie season (106).

Since tracking for all of those became available (1983), 153 teams have done the same thing (or better) in a single game. Before yesterday they were 152-0 (1.000).

There are a few things that come to mind.

Some of this is natural evolution of the game. Teams got light and fast at WR and outran big defenders, so teams got faster on defense, and so teams are playing more heavy personnel on offense and mauling defenses built for speed.

Cover 2 shells are still very prolific. Defenses have decided, at least for some opponents, that preventing home run balls and forcing offenses to sustain long drives of short plays is better. And while this reduces the number of possessions and burns clock, it does tend to induce more turnovers, penalties, and other mistakes.

And a big one is, teams are drafting a different type of QB. I don't know if this is a chicken vs egg thing where the NFL is really taking the best guys colleges are developing or if they're looking for running QBs intentionally while overlooking the Brock Purdys of the world, but they're drafting run heavy guys.

Are colleges producing good pocket passers that are getting overlooked? I don't watch college ball, so I don't know.
