Yeah that seems to be a bit useless to me at this point.  It could also swing North and never touch the US from what I was seeing.

By Tuesday/Wednesday there should be a much better idea of it's path I'd think.

It never hurts to prep because as you have just witnessed in Texas, you will be on your own for quite awhile.
(If) it hits your area.  We know about these cain's in Florida.

a hit on the NJ area now would be very very bad right now...

as in sudden stop blow up the economy bad....

if those refineries go down as well, wicked gas and diesel shortage.... to big a diesel shortage and food and gas supplies stop.... and fall crop harvesting...

bad bad things in a just in time economy....

I'm already stocked up. But I live right below Tampa and they always seem to miss us. We got a nasty rain storm last weekend and it flooded almost a hundred homes. So if we ever do get hit by one we're fucked.

Be advised that the GFS model is notoriously awful at modeling tropical systems.

In fact, all models are bad at tropical system intensities more than a few days out. That said, this storm is poised to rapidly strengthen into a major hurricane at some point. If it does get to cat5, it will only maintain that strength for limited periods of time due to many scientific reasons that I wont go into.

Yes, it was crazy. Back then, the Gas Stations didn't have backup Generators so you couldn't travel very far or feed your home generators. Just spoiled food and a dark house if you didn't prep in advance.  Please, take our advice.

1. Harvey was gonna die over the Yucatan, remember?
2. It doesn't matter if it holds Cat 5 status for an hour or for 3 days. If it goes over the GOM, we are at Irma's mercy and she will have a good opportunity to reach that status again.

Quick question. Say you guys just happened to be replacing some windows and doors at this time near the east coast. Knowing this thing could head your way and you might have to do some boarding up of said windows. Would you go with the pvc moulding or wood?

Swift responses appreciated.

The 18Z GFS run on Tropical Tidbits looks scary for New England...

But that's 10 days out and anything over five days and the GFS model tends to be wrong that far out.

September storms that form in the Cape Verde area tend to hook more into the a
