You are far more patient than me, to not turn it on and try it before all that work and install. Hopefully it's something easy to fix and doesn't require a replacement.

They sent a replacement and it worked 5 minutes after plugging it in. With the first unit, I kept getting stuck on “offline” in the app. Reset it many times and checked the plugs.

I've received the 7 day to confirm email.  I have less than 24 hours left to confirm.  I don't think I will get it.  It would be for my parents house on the farm.  They get 2mb down on a wireless connection that drops down below 1mb often.  But they wouldn't really utilize it much given their age and life style.  News and Facebook doesn't need 100mb down.  My dad doesn't watch tv and my has DirecTv to watch.  I want them to have better internet because I know it frustrates them but at $100 a month plus another $400 in equipment it just doesn't seem worth it.

Faster internet would be beneficial for sure.  They are old retired farmers stuck in their way and like living in the little box of a world they feel comfortable with.  The only thing that would really change is my mother could use streaming services.  I just saw that Starlink wants $50 for shipping plus being Illinois it is another $37 in taxes.  Even with the $99deposite I would still owe $487.06 just to get the equipment to them, then $100 a month.  Plus I would have to make the 8 hour drive to see them, complete the install for them, and then try to explain why they have a different "earth-er-net" cable and repeat yet again it isn't a phone line.  Knowing how they are, they won't benefit much other than having Facebook and Real Clear Politics load quicker.  I'm going to cancel it.

What is the distance from the Modem to the Dish? Is it further than recommended? Sorry, I'm not familiar with the system and if they provide the cable from the dish to the Modem or if you do.  POE will only work so far.

it seemed like an eternity. Maybe 5 or 6 days. They need a better customer service platform

My Starlink saga continues. Support contacted me Tuesday and told me to reload address and leave powered up over night
and the system would update. So I took the kit back out to my cabin and reinstalled the device and spent the night there to see if
the system would work. Nada.
Emailed support this morning when I got back to town asking what's next. Just got a series of emails from them.
Return shipping label.
Explanation of failure.
New kit shipping notice.
1 month credit on my account.
So in a few days I'll get the new Starlink kit and I'll try again.

Maybe it was the previous page or two back where someone checked on availability as a new customer.  It was available and they immediately bought it and later canceled the original reservation.

Go back and find that person.   Understand what they did or message them and see if that option works for you.

I signed up in February of 2021 and still nothing. The projected date moved to 2023 from mid-late 2021. I'm not holding my breath! I'm in SE Randolph County.

I've been following the Starlink reddit for a few years. I know why it is sporadic, but I am fairly certain the beta is over and what the customers were told was that it was FCFS. That clearly is not happening. And it isn't about ground stations, I have 2 ground stations that would service the load in my area.

And I've checked almost monthly if I can sign up as a new customer and cancel my old, nope, not an option. The closest sign up address I could find was 23 miles away, near KC, go figure.....

Mine came in today after a year of waiting. I really haven't even thought much about it since summer. I assumed it was plug and play, but I had to leave the house and didn't even open the box. Do I need to order some sort of adapter?

I saw two dishes in my area, so I knew it was available.  I used a different e-mail when I logged into starlink.com.  I don't have an address that the post office recognizes.  I used physical coordinates.
