Are there time limits to portability? I.e., if I permanently move it to another area.
How does starlink deal with people permanently relocating? I’m 7 miles from an open cell. |

I see this as a plus for the RV'er, people that have 2nd homes & etc. My question is, can we get a 2nd Dish to for this & will the original the router work with a 2nd/new dish? I'd like to use this option when we travel in the RV, but I don't want to climb up on the roof of the house to pull down the dish then put it back up when we return to do it.

View Quote I specifically didn't put mine on the roof for this reason. I put in on a second story deck instead. If you have the V2 dish, the cable is removable, so you can get a spare. That way if you want to take the dish somewhere, just disconnect it and leave the cable, take your spare cable and your router and you're good to go. |

My opinion, I am not paying another $25 a month so i can move my Starlink, even if it was no charge, don't think I would take it. I'll just turn on my hotspot. If I don't have service, I do not need internet. If your a full timer, maybe it might be worth it, but now your looking at $135 for internet and most full timers at campgrounds. |

I got my permanent mount yesterday and got it installed today. One thing I don't understand is why there is so much rotational play between the antenna (I'm reluctant to call it a dish) and the stand or the mount I have now. It seems like there's about 10 degrees of movement. Apparently the antenna adjusts for movement, but if the winds blowing it seems like it would have to do that constantly. I'm thinking about wrapping some duct tape around it. Is everyone else's that loose?

If you have had it installed for a few days and it doesn't seem to matter, don't mess with it. It could cause wear issues over time, though. It's been on my roof line 40' up for a year now and we've had some pretty massive wind storms and it hasn't moved. |

It doesn't perform any ant-rotation function. Here's a section view of the mount I made. The interior of the mount was designed to match the mount that comes with Dishy. The notch cut out in the mount for that release button on Dishy is actually cut quite a bit wider than needed. The only purpose it serves is retention. On the other side, there is a key built into the mount that interfaces with the keyway in Dishy's post. Here is a section view showing that feature. This is the part that serves to prevent rotation. This key in Starlink's mount is smaller than it should be if they intended to prevent any movement. In other words, there was a little slop. I widened that key in my mount to remove all slop. |

One of my friends just got Starlink and he says he's having problems with the speeds slowing to a crawl periodically for 10-20 seconds at time.
Is that normal or is there something wrong with his setup? |

Any opinion how well these handles extreme weather? I want to get one for work out in the Aleutians, but the weather here on the island has a tendency to destroy everything.
