Mine just shipped out to my parents place in rural MN. We will be visiting there for summer with our motorhome and we full time all over the country. Pretty excited to have it and the new portability feature.

Does anyone use a mess network with Starlink?   I want to improve the signal in the far end of the house and I think that’s they way to do it.   Any suggestions?

Starlink has a mesh system.  I would assume that would be the easiest solution.

I believe it's currently in beta so you can't get one unless invited.

According to that map I'm being bumped into next year.  Starlink still says service is expected in mid 2022.

go to the starlink map

find an address in the green,

order starlink using that  address.
ship to your address.

That's how I  got mine.

wait if you  want  or do the work around.

edit
I see your in Texas.,

I used a random Laredo  address
shipped it to Dallas.

Presto it worked,

to be fair-  now you  have to pay the portability charge but  its worth it to me to have it NOW.

The map is for new signups. There is a line, so if your account still shows mid 2022 there is still hope.

I can still remember my mom coming in to wake me up at 3:00 a.m. to watch the launches starting with Gemini.  It was extremely exciting and tense because you didn't know what was going to happen and it was a life or death situation.

I feel a little of that same excitement now when I watch videos of the Falcon 9 first stage boosters returning to earth to be reused.  It blows my mind.

My son is 30 miles Northeast from me and the deer camp is 36 miles west.

He ordered a dish 2 weeks ago and has already received it. There’s also availability at the camp address.

Meanwhile, I’ve had my deposit down since 2/23/21 with no movement.

As soon as I confirm his speeds, I’m ordering using the camp address.

I’m going to mount the dish using the official long wall mount.  The mount itself and the way its is attached seems fairly sturdy.  I’m questioning the the interface between the mount and the dish.  Seems like the absolute weakest part of it.

Is there a reinforcement piece I can get, or any other recommendations?  I’m sold on the mount, just not how it interfaces.  Its a clicking plastic pipe into a metal holder.

I felt the same way.  It seemed like there was too much play between the key and the key way.  I guess if the performance is is good it doesn't really matter.  I duct taped them anyway.

I’m not being purposefully obtuse.  Did you duct tape on the outside or the inside (for a tighter fit)?

I misspoke, the pipe itself is metal, its the little click piece that appears to be plastic.  I’ll have to take a magnet to it.

I suppose I could take a couple of screws to it (thorough both pipes).

The mount itself is quite robust.  Starlink is a name brand, and they could have charged a lot more for anything branded to it.  It wasn’t that much as compared to other crappier antenna mounts.

I duct taped on the outside, but it's really not a great set up.  What I have is Starlink to Starlink.  Maybe I'm overthinking it.  I guess if the performance is good then I guess it doesn't matter, but it seems like it should be more rigid.

1. Use their map to find an open cell.
2. Use an address from that cell and order it.
3. Pay for portability (or not).
4. Profit!

That’s awesome! I can think of a better use for starlink than bringing connectivity to schools that previously had none.

We’ve been very pleased with Starlink over the three months we’ve had the dish.  Last week we took the dish, modem, and a 150’ cable (ordered separately) on a camping trip at Vista Linda campground in a canyon south of Jemez Springs, NM.  Never had cell/data service in that location previously.  Turned on portability on the Starlink website, had an open area of sky, and it worked like a charm.  Cell and texting worked with WIFI calling turned on.

Something to consider, the drawback is no internet service at home with the portable internet system - the home security system is not online.  So will need to get the least expensive cable internet at home and activate it when traveling.

I’ve got starlink and dsl at home. Both are load balanced through my router. If I unplug my starlink for a trip, the house still has internet. In fact, no one at the house would even notice a difference other than less overall bandwidth

If  you are receiving this email, you are currently on the waitlist for Starlink in your area. We are launching additional satellites as quickly as we can to expand network capacity in your region, and will fulfill your order as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we are now offering Starlink for RVs at any destination where Starlink provides active coverage. Currently there is no waitlist - all orders will be shipped shortly after the order is placed, including to "Waitlist" areas on the Starlink Availability Map. You can pause and un-pause service at any time.

Users can expect high speed, low latency internet in areas marked "Available", and notably slower speeds during events with many collocated users, or during hours of peak usage in areas marked as "Waitlist”, where residential users are prioritized.  Prioritizing residential makes it possible to offer Starlink for RVs immediately with minimal impact to the most loaded portions of the network.

You can order Starlink for RVs directly from www.starlink.com/rv or by selecting the "+" button under "Your Starlinks" on your account page. To learn more about Starlink for RVs, please read our FAQ page.

Thank you for being a supporter of Starlink!

So question for those who have been able to order it and get it shipped (NOT on the waitlist). I’m about to move north and my options are 12Mb Frontier DSL or Starlink. When I enter the address, this is the order page I receive. Does this mean it is ready to ship quickly or that it’s available and I get put on the waitlist until they have hardware to send me? Just trying to get my ducks in a row before I order it, spend $600 and I don’t get the hardware for 6 months.

So the Harbor Freight 5-section 5-20ft telescoping aluminum flag pole has gotten very popular for travel with the gen 3 (rectangular not round) dish.  I just picked one up.  There is an adapter for starlink on Etsy.  I have one on order now.  You can buy the 3D printer file or physical part.

Will be great on my cabin and camper.

Looks like ready to ship.   A deposit is around $100 plus why would they have you pay for the first month of service if wait listed?  Actually the payment is just the hardware plus shipping.

The “due today” is the hardware, S&H, and tax. The monthly fee isn’t included which is why I was slightly confused.

If I can order today and have it shipped immediately sounds like I’m a soon-to-be Starlink guy. Good to go.

Also because I don’t have the time to read 2500 posts, anyone using a Ubiquiti setup with this and have pointers/tricks? Looking to go 16p POE switch with 3-4 AP’s for the house and outbuilding/garage. The area I’m moving to has virtually no cell service as well, so I want the majority of my livable property to have WiFi.

Your first month service fee gets charged two weeks after delivery of the unit. You can set it up with whatever router you want but you'll need the ethernet adapter.
