I think it may be possible. I've thought about doing the same. What I would do is just buy an extra cable (since the original will be mounted along the side of the house). The cable unplugs from the unit, and the unit quick-detaches from the base. So all you need to do is disconnect the unit from it's mount, grab the router & spare cable.

Spare Cable

You cannot just order a second dish, you have to order the whole kit.

Now... I recommend ordering an ASUS mesh router and using that instead of the included Starlink router. Also, if you have a router for each starlink, and use the same wifi name and password, your devices can easily connect between the two. My secondary unit  is the same name and password, and all of our devices have no issues connecting to either.

I use THIS with both of my starlinks. It was plug & play. The only reason to use the starlink router is for looks or if you have a smaller area to cover... plus the new gen 2 starlink router is waterproof outdoors I believe.

There is not a separate POE brick to power the dish on V2. It’s built into the router. So you basically have to use it.

Not necessarily. https://dishypowa.com/

That looks to be for V1 dishy. V2 has different connectors and who knows if they also altered the wiring.

Good thing is, in a year or so if you want to switch to Starlink. Your chances of being able to get in a cell should be far greater.

I'm not hitching my wagon to T-Mobile. But thus far no issues. Either service or hardware.

Get both and setup SD-WAN.

Moved my T mobile to a new house and the coverage there is pretty bad.

I can get “good” reception according to the t mobile home internet app setup. Even then I’m only getting 5-8mb down and like .2-2mb up.

Think I’m canceling it and having to go with crummy windstream service at the new house.

I just copied the header from the story.

I'm not for or against it. Just information. You can digest it however you'd like.

Isn't this the last page of this thread?

I read the article.

I'm not against Starlink. It's a Starlink thread. I thought I'd share that post.

Still waiting on mine. I've had my Starlink kit sitting on the floor in my office for about 3 weeks now. Here's a tip for all you newcomers: If you need more than one thing from the Starlink shop, order them separately. After my Starlink order was confirmed, I went to the shop and ordered an ethernet adapter and mount. The estimated ship date on new mount orders was that week. The ethernet adapter was estimated about 4 weeks out. Since I ordered both at the same time, the ethernet adapter seems to be holding up the mount. If I'd ordered them separately I'd probably at least have my unit mounted and operational so if my current ISP had an outage I could at least switch to the starlink wifi.

Interesting. Not on my end.

Anyway, the story is that US Taxpayers paid for a lot of the units that went to Ukraine. Apparently that was brushed under the rug in the beginning. Or at least until exposed.

There's other sources. That's just the one I pulled up first off Google.

I ordered the pipe adapter and Ethernet adapter at the same time.  They shipped the pipe adapter by itself, Ethernet adapter shipped two weeks later.

Dishy showed up today. Steel waiting for ethernet adapter and the mounts I ordered, but I temporarily mounted it to my chimney.

Speed tests have been around 90Mbps/10Mbps, with latency in the 35-40ms range - all via the built-in WiFi.

Super happy thus far. 5 years with no internet sucked!

Got the confirmation email Monday and scheduled for delivery Friday.  Cannot wait.  Just need to explore all the mounting spots. Right now dead center of my roof is the best spot according to the app.

Any word on the marine mobile version of Starlink yet?  Last I heard was mid 2022 but not holding my breath since I got bumped at least a year on a standard dishy.

Anyway, winter is over and it’s time to start traveling again so I guess I should take myself off the list and hope for the boat dish list to maybe materialize.  Ordering Pepwave/peplink setup for nearshore stuff and irridiumGo for offshore weather and text.

Kinda bouncing around....

Good as 90 down, 15 up to 40 down 8 up. Ping is averaging around 40ms.

I set it up here Sunday night. I've had a few interruptions, but not sure if they are local based on the degraded network messages.
Last 12 hours are no outages > 2s.

Anyway, we got Roku, 2 computers, 2 phones all working OK.

I got an email from Starlink on Sunday.

"You have the opportunity to be one of the first to try the new Starlink Mesh WiFi Router!

The Starlink team has developed a mesh router to help wirelessly extend your Starlink WiFi network throughout your home and provide a more reliable connection wherever you need it.

We would love to hear feedback about your Starlink Mesh experience, including setup, performance, or any other recommendations you may have. For more detailed setup instructions and other frequently asked questions, see the Starlink Mesh Install Guide.

To order, click the button below to take you directly to the product in the Starlink Shop. This offer applies only to your Starlink account. You may purchase up to 3 mesh routers. "

It costs $150, but I don't need it because I have a really small house.  It was nice of them to think of me though.

Day 2, and I'm throughly impressed with Starlink thus far; and that's coming from an ITPro. Service has been outstanding, minimal drops (none noticed while using standard services like streaming video or web browsing). Haven't gamed much yet, however my son has played a good deal of Mechwarrior 5 via PC, and he said it's been solid other than a few hiccups here and there.

Once I get my FortiGate router in, I'll setup SD-WAN and a link monitor to really get some telemetry.

At this point, I'm thinking this was totally worth the 14 month wait from pre-order. Having a reliable connection way out in the sticks, with comparable bandwidth to coax service in the surrounding towns, is amazing.

ETA: And, this is all just using WiFi. I can't wait to get hardwired.

ETA2: Speeds tests this morning are showing 210Mbps down / 19Mbps up, 35ms latency. Very impressed.

I got the email that my order was ready to be processed, but I think I’m going to let it go. Verizon recently offered LTE home internet for $25/mo with the price guaranteed for 2 years. I ordered it and it’s working great for our needs.

Has anyone tried to extend the Wifi signal to a 2nd structure on their property?  We have an average size house and I'd like to be able to extend the WiFi to our barn which is roughly 60 yards from where the router will be.  The router will be in the basement of a walkout, how will that impact getting a signal to the barn?  Would the NEST Router @TRRiverdude mentioned about help my situation?  Any other suggestions?

I just got the same offer. I already have very fast cable internet (60+), but I HATE Cox and have been trying to ditch them for years.

How does it stack up so far? I'm also trying to quit Verizon because their reliability no longer matches their price point, but that price is a third of what I pay now.

I can do a speed test on my phone in one spot in my kitchen and get 127mbs on Verizon 4g LTE. Unfortunately they don't have home service available in our area. Tower isn't a mile from us. If they'd update it to 5G that would be nice.

I have a very similar situation.  Second house ~50 yards from my house, router is in the basement, signal will not reach.

I run out of the Ethernet adapter into a switch, out of the switch to a router in my house and out of the switch through buried Cat 6 to a router in the second house.  Works great!

I have a similar situation and used a Ubiquiti wireless bridge kit and it has worked well for a few years now. You have to have a fairly clean line of sight but it has been reliable.

Hopefully you mean a switch in the second house, and not a router.

If it is in fact a router, you’d do well to replace it with a switch. If - for example - you’re having trouble connecting to a device in your shop while you’re in the house, this is likely the problem.
