9 years of training. I know I should feel elated, but the rolls that day and since then just have me exhausted.
I talk about Jiu Jitsu all the time, so I figured I'd update the world of ARFCOM. I train at Gracie Barra here in SC. Thanks for all the support I received from this site, and the encouragement of people who train. |

Congratulations, I am sure it took countless hours of work and dedication!
What are the hallmarks of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? |
Beautiful! That is one of the hardest things to accomplish in this world. Especially from Gracie Barra. Oss!
Congrats. It's a long journey and a lot of time.
Who did you receive it from? |
Great job! It took me almost that long to get my silver bullet belt!

Congratulations. It's a long grind. I hope to have mine before I hit 53. Keep at it and grow the sport.

Congrats, dude. From what I hear, Jiu-Jitsu doesn't just give away black belts like most martial arts.

Congrats. I let Royce shoot some of my silencers a few weeks ago. Dude is a good shooter too.

Congrats! If I could go back in time, that's one thing i would definitely do.

Congrats man lowly 42 yr old blue belt here. One of our brown belts just received his black the other day. Pretty awesome to see actually.
Emily Kwok actually came to town to be there when he got it as he started with her years ago. |
I would like to do that. The only options here are Tae Kwon do and Hapkido.
woot woot.
I bet you got your ass stomped at your belt ceremony. Congratulations. |
Congratulations, Sir.
Would it be rude to ask what kind of injuries you dealt with along the way? |
Congrats! Got my kiddos training at the Gracie school here in town and just watching them out there makes me want to get started myself. Not sure if this creaky bod is up for the challenge though
Congrats! Should be testing for my purple in July, GB as well.....It's a fun journey. Love every minute of it.

My plan was to finish my Muay Thai black belt (1 year to go) and then start on jiu jitsu.... And then kids came along. Now I'm too old, tired and out of shape to start full time again. That's a great accomplishment, way to go. The Gracie's visit our school often for special sessions. |

Congrats! Who all do you train with? Many schools or just one? My brother got his BJJ black belt a few months ago. He trains in Charlotte, NC and Ft Mill, SC, at a couple different schools. I wouldn't be surprised if you guys have run into each other before.

Good job, that's commitment.
Do you do it as a hobby or do you compete? |
Nice job. Now what? Instructor? Or move on to another set of goals?

Congratulations, Sir. Would it be rude to ask what kind of injuries you dealt with along the way? View Quote not at all. Most injuries were my own fault - like 90% because I still believed I was superman and the rules didn't apply to me. What an idiot I was. Injuries that are common include injuries to the little toe, rib injuries, (pulling connective intercostal tissue) sore connective tissue in shoulder from refusing to tap like an idiot, those are my main ones. I see others with knee injuries, again because they were foolish and didn't tap. |

I trained 2/3 of my time about three times a week. Lately I went down to 2 x a week. but I never took a break. |

Do you wear American flag 80's style baggy work out pants and ask if anyone wants to take a roundhouse kick to the face while you're wearing those bad boys?

Great way to make new friends also. But my main training came from Gracie Barra. |
