It's in the "worst movies" thread but Inner Space is good. Old Godzilla movies were fun as a kid.

If you son can handle B&W silent movies, I'd suggest Buster Keaton's The General and Safety Last!  Those have adventure and scares.

How old are you!?!  I'm no spring chicken, but we did have 'talkies' when I was young.  One day all of the Arfcom 2001'ers will be gone, and the rest of us will have lost a tremendous cultural resource.  I just didn't realize that was going to be so soon

I was 5 or 6 I spent an entire summer watching this movie over and over. Looking back...it's not the greatest movie ever, but I loved it .

It's called The Treasure and is kind of like a very low budget Goonies with a bit of a ghost story element to it.

Treasure -1993 - TV Movie - Simple Goonies Style Misadventure

With Ricky Schroder?

That was a great movie. It could be a little disturbing to a sensitive/deep thinking kid depending on their live experiences. (loss of parents, cancer of a friend, etc)

Oh, yes! Absolutely this. Real stop-motion puppets. Absolutely incredible, and don't miss the "how they made it" features.

I'm in my 50s, but I appreciate good movies and even good music - Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky - that came before my time.

I'll end with the classic Laurel and Hardy The Music Box

I need some movie ideas for my 7-year old.  No sex, no f-bombs, no slasher movies, no extreme violence.  Looking for stuff besides animated movies.

Examples of what I'm looking for include:
The Goonies
ET
Ghostbusters (the real one, not the shitty one)
Star Wars (we don't speak of Eps. 1-3)
Indiana Jones
Gremlins

Poor suggestions:
Showgirls
Nightmare on Elm Street
Goodfellas
Event Horizon

Just giving you a tough time.  We keep the same music loaded up in the car and on in the background at home.  My dad raised me on it and I am trying to program my daughter to prefer classical music.

My daughter likes classic black and white Disney - prefers it over new stuff. I bookmarked the previous YouTube links and am going to see what she thinks this week.
