In on page 100!

Edit: made this post with iron sights. Front sight was in focus but the target was blurry.

I may have 1 or 2 (or 20) Glock mags, and I may be having a stroke with regard to remembering a concern with the aluminum.  Maybe it was simply the finish people were worried about.  I don't get much sleep, these days.

I guess the next question would be which optic cut?

I'd be more worried about the less optimized mags than I would be about the gun wearing out

Aluminum 1911s in .45 at least are notorious for not lasting very long, low five digits generally.  And that's with anodized aluminum.

Not that it’s an issue, just that the aluminum frame won’t last as long on a high round count competition pistol as a steel frame would. Still more than long enough to not worry about it though

Unless you absolutely need a gun right now I’d wait until they release the standard RMR footprint, or get it uncut and send the slide somewhere to get machined for the RMR footprint

I think that myth has more to do with metal followers dinging the feed ramps in AL guns.

And if your gun doesn't have a ramped barrel I think EGW makes a steel frame ramp insert.

Get both.

My lightweight has a ramped barrel and I only use Wilson mags.

The Chip mags and other metal followers were pecking at my frame, though. That prompted the switch.

My lw champion does as well with no issues but Hilton Yam doesn't recommend them in .45s due to bullet angle when feeding. I love my lw champion though.

No hurry, for me.  More time to see what happens with this whole thing, I suppose - especially with the apparently unoptimized mags referenced above.  That's probably for the other thread, though.

I donno what’s meant by the mags being “unoptimized”, kind of the point of the gun is that it uses Glock mags and I haven’t heard of anyone having a single malfunction with one yet

They waste space... metal magazine, wrapped in plastic. Adds weight and reduces space that could be used to shove another round in them.

Well sure, but that’s just how Glock mags have always been. They’re also working on the option to use P320 mags too, but since he said he already has a large collection of 9mm Glock mags it makes sense to go for the option of magazine commonality

When you compare length to capacity Glock mags are some of if not the most efficient double stack single feed mags around.  Sure they could be thinner, but there's not much you could do to get more rounds in them at their current length.

RMR cut.

This will enable you to use an SRO or a 508 Comp.  2 good optic choices for competition.

I've seen a few Commanders with cracked frames.  I've also cracked the frame on a Springfield ultra compact.  Most people are never going to hit 20-30,000 rounds out of a single gun.

As a guy with a G21 avatar pic...

No relevant factory slide cut, no care. MOS is AIDS. Glock stock triggers are aids. Glock ergonomics were designed by Euro fags used to having dicks in their hands all day. Shield Arms had to teach them how to build a relevant magazine. The good Glocks are 87% modified. The best Glocks don't even use a  Glock frame.

Sig, Springfield, P80, Palmetto and Taurus figured out how to make a factory gun with a relevant factory slide cut, relevant mags, and better trigger than Glock. Also better ergos. It's 2023, unfuck yourselves Glock.
