The ground-level tactical communication is a simple as the agitator shouting "let's go that way!" and having a couple buddies to agree, then group think carries the mob in that direction.

The city-, region-, and nation-wide strategic communication is largely done on end-to-end encrypted apps and messaging services or, when they must communicate in the open, using commonly agreed upon prowords that appear more innocuous than they actually are.

I'm guessing @eesmith could shine some light on it.

I have been doing my best to remain optimistic.  We started seeing day light on the China virus lock down and now a bunch of evil opportunist decide they want to push all in on destroying the country.

I just want to take a long past due vacation and enjoy time with my family.  Instead I am watching city after city ransacked and burned.  The rule of law gone in those areas as if there was very much left.  Politicians complicit in the violence and destruction.

Today I really started losing my optimism.  I had been planning a Christmas vacation to give us something to look forward to.  I don't know there is much point in it.  At this point plate carriers, helmets and night vision seem to make more sense than a vacation.

And when Antifa steps up to using guns (where have their friends, the John Brown Gun Club, been?), the news media and the usual crowd in government will be pushing for their gun control wish list.

The question is whether or not the public will go along with it.

Is there a contradiction here, or is it just me? It seems like at least with the cop situation, there was an attempt to follow due process before the bad guy fought that process and then the cop overstepped and negligently killed him. In the riot situation there is no attempt at due process - we just skip right to the killin'. At the end of both scenarios, someone died because they tried to steal stuff.

Before anyone starts with the "passing counterfeit money isn't the same as looting" argument, would you be okay with the cop's actions if Floyd had done a smash-n-grab instead? The cop's actions should be wrong no matter what the offense was, correct?

I still hold the cop was over the line, and it *seems* like shop owners should be able to defend their stores, but I'm having a hard time making a logical argument why the cop's actions should be murder, but the shop owner's wouldn't be.
View Quote

I'll have a go, buddy. First, do we know that George knew the $20 that he passed was phony? If so, then yes, he was stealing. Stealing and looting are definitely different though. Looting implies smashing, grabbing, force, violence. It's not a fine distinction. And if George just made $20 from thin air and foisted it on a citizen, he's a piker compared to the Fed. The Govt gives an insane level of protection to currency, considering how badly THEY abuse it.

If a shop owner is inside of his store, legally armed, then I would consider anyone breaching a closed store destructively to be a threat to life, just like a home invader, and I would absolutely defend my life in that situation and rightfully expect protection FROM the law, especially since he is without protection OF the law.

Now the video I saw of the store owner driving up, pulling a shotgun from his back seat, and firing upon the fleeing looters that were damaging his store? That'd be murder. Much as anyone thinks they have it coming, shooting a fleeing thief in the back who poses no threat to life, is and should be, murder.

I sure as hell don't want to be forced to shoot anyone. I also don't like the idea of people chucking molotov cocktails my way! That's a whole lot harder to stop than "just" a looter especially when faced with large numbers of throwers.

It's a hell of a thing, shooting a man. You take everything he has, and everything he'll ever get.

You can't kill someone for "targeting your livlihood." And depending on the state, you may not have much luck with the "life and safety" if the prosecutor can prove you were someplace other than your home.

I didn't say there was "no difference." I'm saying the logical arguments (something many people, like yourself, struggle with) are difficult to make without contradicting yourself. We're arguing its okay to shoot some person (with no attempt to arrest) who is doing damage to or stealing property, but not okay for the police to kill the same suspect if they try to take him into custody for those same crimes and he fights them. A la "counterfeit money shoudn't be a death sentence, executed by police" which I've seen argued on this board. Yet you're advocating that breaking a window or stealing stuff during a riot SHOULD result in an instant death sentence, carried out by whatever citizen is handy.

There have been a lot of tragic threads here about people who have shot criminals because they were breaking into their car in the driveway, or the shed in the back yard. Most of those people end up going to prison. Usually, the overall consensus of those threads is "fuck theives" but also "you can't just shoot people for stealing stuff (even if most of us think you should)." The fact that there is a riot wouldn't gave given those people "extra rights" to shoot those people, especially if they put themselves in the middle of the riot knowing a confrontation would be likely. Yet that is exactly what we're advocating and wishing for here. I'm not saying it's wrong - I'm saying it's hard to justify both positions at the same time in logical arguments.

You can't even make the "force continuum" argument (cop only went wrong and its murder because he didn't de-escalate when Floyd went unconcious) because you're arguing for going right to fatal force, when the rioter is simply committing a property crime.

And it's not a bicycle helmet. It's a "bump helmet." When I save up enough allowance and birthday money it will hold my NODs, and besides my mom says my head is special and I need to protect it.

Gentlemen, The Boog is officially at our doorstep.

I disagree. Where are the constant bombings? Where are the dozens of completely burned-out neighborhoods around the nation?

This recent rioting is terrible - but it's quite a ways away from the 1960s!
I agree.... we don't have the assassination of political and public figures. We don't have Police Stations being bombed nor do we have Military Establishments being bombed.

We don’t have police stations being bombed yet.  Just overran.

I think the reason it's worse today is the institutional support the anti america crowd has.

They have half the elected officials, probably most of the bureaucrats, the vast majority of teachers and professors, and a high number of judges and activist lawyers.

Don’t forget the media in all forms, entertainment,  “news” etc..

Yup should have mentioned that.

Yes, there was a lot of stuff going on but the assassination of politicians is what really got them moving. They were/are more worried about them selves than the are their constituents.

The 1968 GCA has roots that predate any rioting that occured in the '60s.
"Precursors of the passage of the Gun Control Act were Senate Bill 1975 in 1963, "A Bill to Regulate the Interstate Shipment of Firearms," and Senate Bill 1592 in 1965, "A Bill to Amend the Federal Firearms Act of 1938." Both were introduced by Senator Thomas J. Dodd and met with fierce opposition on the floor but the bills also paved the way for the creation of the Gun Control Act of 1968."

Bonus points if you can name who signed the Mulford Act into CA law.

Hint... it's one of GDs favorite "conservative" politicians.

They already have - that's probably who killed the fed in CA a few days ago.

But the useful idiots going out shooting in the desert might be a little harder to get recruited even by their tough communist handlers to actually go out and pull triggers.

People here have been noting that their foot soldiers are all skinny jeans weaklings easily crushed, but their commanders tend to be bigger scarier dudes.  Those bigger scarier dudes are still limiting their exposure to violence by having the foot soldiers absorb the damage.

They may be well aware that this can only go so far and they can't get into a shooting war because they'll lose public opinion and it gets a lot harder to run interference for them once they start doing mass shootings, even if they throw on a hawaiian shirt and false flag it.

Not for nothing, but almost all black immigrants I have ever met absolutely hate african Americans. They are absolutely ashamed of and disgusted by them.
