I understand maybe not wanting to fold an edge over, but at this point it's basically a hammer that could wedge it's way through clothing and flesh, but I can't cut anything with it, wouldn't be able to process game, and it's not exactly a great chopper. I bought it new from a certified distributor, but said it was made in 2017. I just got a new axe that was kind of dull, but just put it on some stones and in a few minutes it was razor sharp. I'm guessing I should call Winkler customer service? Is it just designed to bash cinder blocks, sheet metal and other things and not do those other tasks a knife could do? View Quote |

View Quote That's where I'm at, and after comparing it to the other hawks I got I'm not sure I want to thin it out. Things a beast and I'm fairly certain it's designed for a specific purpose, breaching. I've fashioned an edge on it after a lot of work with diamond stones, but not going to try and fuck with the edge geometry too much till I call up winkler just to verify. I think the Jenny wren seems to be the most multi purpose, it is sharp, a fairly thick bevel, and isn't too heavy or awkward. Seems a decent woods companion or self defense, I wouldn't want to strike a cinder block with it. The kestrel seems really delicate, and has a thin/wide bevel. I haven't figured out what it's purpose is, seems like something you fight with. I'm interested to see how the shrike and Sayoc compare to these. So far the Jenny Wren really seems like a well thought out design for most people, and is my favorite. |

So far only thing that has worked are diamonds, as long as I don't accidentally dull it it seems to be taking shape. |

For those of you with the CRKT Jenny Wren, it appears the scales are just attached via flared tubular rivets? I just ordered one and am thinking about recoating it in FDE cerakote. I can redo the flared rivets myself. OTOH, I could just krylon the whole thing...
