Used my hawk a few weeks ago on a canoe trip with my boy. Firewood alone it pays its way.

Then one night I failed making a proper trench and a storm moved though and I used it to break up the clay and roots before we floated away. Took about an hour but we stayed mostly dry under my sylny tarp.

I am literally having a custom tomahawk made for me by a small batch knife maker. I shall provide a ridiculous number of pics when it arrives.

I will also be purchasing a Bastinelli Addiction tomahawk when they debut later this year. I need a stylish yet functional semi-custom fighting hawk to take with me when I travel, something that I love but is replaceable if I need to use it. The Addiction will fit that role for me.

Until then, my Spyderco Warrior Hawk rides in my backpack.

Highly recommend Green River bourbon. It’s delicious. Four Roses Small Batch delicious.

Kinda relevant to the thread.. I found this tomahawk head in my backyard a few years ago.  Central Idaho. I cleaned it up, sharpened it and put a new handle on it. It’s cool. Don’t know how old it is.

This is a Woox made tomahawk. They also make some pretty sweet shotgun and rife stocks.

19" OAL and they say that [sharpened] spike is for digging. Forged and sharp as hell.

I should be getting an Instagram message sometime in the next two weeks to inform me that my custom hawk is ready for payment.

It a cool feeling knowing that there’s a ridiculously in-demand knife maker out west who has an item on his workbench specifically with my name on it.

ZR Tactical makes it. Think it was about $140. They also make a G10 version with an all plastic sheath to go places or maybe shouldn’t.

I love the Warrior Hawk. I made the custom scales for it.

I’ve not used the butt end as a pry bar, but the face and the spike stick into woods nicely.

It’s a wonderful mid price option for a full size full tang fighting tomahawk if you don’t want to venture into Winkler or HFB territory.

Great. I've seen some great prices on them in various places and Spyderco mil discount is something like 50%. I'm debating that or a RMJ that are almost double that price.

Cool looking scales.

New tomahawk arriving tomorrow.

Wife is, uh, doing some cleaning on the second floor. I may soon have a place to display my collection soon.

Thinking about adding a kukri and a Bastinelli sickle at some point. According to my instructor, the sickle is fairly instrumental in the development of Asian martial arts.

I should’ve had this yesterday, but the post office is literally retarded.

I’m not sure how I feel about the Wingard Wearables Empress Tomahawk. Everything about it looks well thought out, and I understand the design philosophy behind it, and I greatly the decision to use colonial era materials and processes in its construction, but it feels…flimsy.

Maybe I’m just used to full tang chonkers made out of quarter inch D2 or 80CR. This thing is ridiculously light. The box felt empty.

I’m also not used to asymmetrical blades. Starboard side is beveled. Port side is flat, and the spike curves in this direction for IWB carry.

One thing is for certain…one bonk in head with this, and it’s good night sweet prince. You hook an arm with the spike end and you’re filleting it. This is a weapon.

Got it on sportsman's guide about 5 years ago. They don't have them anymore.

I did see a similar, German made axe on midway recently. It's a lot nicer but same shape and handle the commie one came with. I did a lot of mods to mine as you can see

Sadly no, I’m still waiting on my custom hawk. That’s gonna be awesome when it arrives.

This is apparently a traditional colonial American spontoon design, manufactured using traditional colonial American materials and techniques. It is a VERY retro piece.

You are right - no choking up on this thing and beating someone with it. The spontoon style blade is a little too short to punch with though, so no big deal.

I really like mine...make no mistake, this is purely a dedicated defensive tool (i.e. weapon). It is ridiculously light compared to most modern full-tang hawks. As mentioned, no choking up on this tool. That said, you also don't want over-the-shoulder swings as that hook will tear you up (or your T-shirt, don't ask how I know).  The technique is to launch the hawk from the curved spike almost rested in your armpit/socket area and punch quickly. A little practice is all it takes, and you're find you can be both accurate, fast, and deliver pretty significant impacts.

Zac has really done his homework on looking into past hawk-like weapons. Light and fast.

Rustproof. Another nice aspect is the silicone-bronzed head is rustproof. I've had zero issues with his handles, they hold up well with hard impacts. I can only imagine what joint strikes would do to a threat, that pointed "arrowhead" really maximizes strikes.

The hook is curved, both meant to contour to your body, but also aid in "hooking" your opponent. I'm not that good with it, but in slower drill speeds it does work as well.

The carry system is probably the most ingenious. It works. It's not like a speed draw system, but I've worn it multiple times with pants and shorts (not booty shorts!) and it both conceals and carries extremely well, even when sitting and light jogging.

It's an expensive, single-purpose tool, but if it sings to you, this is a well-thought-out tool with a lot of really interesting features and aspects.

I can only speak to the one that I have, but it’s very light and looks/feels…homemade? You hold it and you’re reminded of Americans living on the frontier who carried very similar things daily, and built such things with limited engineering and metallurgy knowledge.

It’s a very classical feeling weapon, and I’d love to own a Backripper to see if it gives a similar or different feel.

That said, I’m not going to give Wingard Wearables my hard earned dollars for a while. The custom hawk I’ve commissioned will get paid for next, and then hopefully Bastinelli will have a sale on his hawk around mid year.

After that, maybe a Jason Knight or a HFB Crescent? If I can find a Winkler Stealth with a front spike that’ll get snatched up, but I feel like I need to pass a few levels in Kali to earn the privilege of buying other Winkler products.

The light weight is appealing from a martial arts perspective.

I have an American Tomahawk Company Model 1 and while its great for smashing and bashing things, at 20 oz it's rather heavy for its size as fighting implement.

That the Wingards are easily concealed is another plus, although right now I'm also tempted by a Titanium "Spetsnaz" shovel, which while not concealable, can be carried in plain sight without triggering most people, is also fairly light and is a very good weapon if needed.
