Dan Fogelberg - Same Auld Lang Syne (Lyrics)

When I was young, I just thought this was a pretty (melodic) holiday song. Now, as I am approaching old age, this song hits me right in the feelz. I know exactly what it's about. The lyrics are fantastic; the way they describe simple things and drag out the song a little.  It's exactly how you feel in these situations.  And the way he describes the emotions and nostalgia of the moment. I don't tear up when I hear it, but maybe come pretty close now.

OP, Smith has a great voice and the band did a great job with that song. Very respectful to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The same band, Shinedown, Through the ghost. First time I heard that song it hit me hard. Reminded me of a girl I knew when I was young. Now she's gone, bad circumstances.

Shinedown is one of my favorite bands. They’re really good live as well.

If you haven’t already. Check out the side project Smith and Meyers.

We Are the World... but not because the song is touching; it's liberal gobbledygook. Sure, the world was perhaps more innocent and cared about trying to help some poor people. It hits me hard because the video shows all the artists in their prime as they were when I was young. So many of them are gone now, or 75+ years old. Those that are still around can't sing any more.

We chase misprinted lies
We face the path of time
And yet I fight, and yet I fight
This battle all alone
No one to cry to
No place to call home
Ooh
Ooh-ooh
Ooh
Ooh-ooh
My gift of self is raped
My privacy is raked
And yet I find, and yet I find
Repeating in my head
If I can't be my own
I'd feel better dead
Ooh
Ooh-ooh
Ooh
Ooh-ooh

Gojira - The Shooting Star [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Always been a Gojira fan. This one came out not long before we lost our first child. I was reading about the song and sure enough it was about the two brothers in the band losing their mom.

As much as I love Gojira and think it's a fantastic song I can't listen to it. Just queueing it up in YouTube to share it was hard.

Two get me every time.

My cousin, who was best friend, died in 1997. He was a police officer and he loved “knocking on heavens door” by GnR.

The second is “brickyard road” by Johnny Van Zant.

I miss you, brother.
