I don't know if it was the music of that time or just kids being creative idiots, but it seems to me that making up your own lyrics was easier then.

Back in '73, 12 year old me got a '71 Precision (Thanks Mom!! Still loving you!!) and I tried to model myself on James Dewar of Robin Trower.
 Little Bit of Sympathy (2007 Remaster) ETA: adding the title song from Twice Removed from Yesterday, which is their first album. It seems the guitarist from Stone the Crows needed to be electrocuted first, and then Dewar could join Trower and Isadore, and in the future I will post the love songs of the band.
