Wood shop teacher sent me a picture of what he'd like to see his students working towards on the long ship dragon heads. Pretty cool. Can't wait to see where the kids go with it.

Can it be smoothed to carve out 90% and leave only fine ridges that could be sanded off or left to remain? 0.01" X-Y-Z resolution/free play limits should allow some fantastic results. |

Everything about this thread is made of 100% pure AWESOME. Man I wish i'd had teachers like that when I was a kid, wish it even more for back when I had school-age kids.
It's inspiring as can be, making want to start on a sculpture project i've had on the backburner for some time, and giving me some great tips for when I do so, thanks OP! |

With how well they did the horns, I'd think they could make some organic looking stubs to decorate the neck now that they have so many examples to work from, rather than sacrificing more racks to the dragon. They have the bone staining down pat, and making a curved cone with a rounded tip can't be all that hard.
