Lost a damned good friend of over 30 years today.  Cheers to you old friend!

My condolences.

Thanks fellas.  When you get those unicorn bottles, open them up and share them with good friends.  Create memories and have some laughs.  I'll think of my buddy every time I revisit this bottle.  It is every bit as good as I had hoped it would be, but I would rather have been able to enjoy it with him.

Which would you pick tonight?  Blue or Red?

I thought the Full Proof was quite good....never-mind the politics.

I'm enjoying the black.

ETA: And I've moved to my old bottle of Stagg Jr.

What's the word on Weller?  I am waiting to see if I won any in the ABC lottery.  I'm usually a 4 Roses / Woodford Double Oaked guy but have been trying to branch out.

There's a lot under the Weller brand.  It's made at BT and it's their wheated mashbill, the same as is used to blend Pappy.

The Special Reserve is the lowest tier, it's decent for a $25 bottle.  The Antique is the next step up and a good value for what you get.  From there, the rest get very expensive and usually hard to find for their desirability.

Then there is the William L. Weller that's from the Antique Collection.  IMO, very very excellent but if you want one you'll have to win a lottery or be ready to shell out 10x the MSRP on secondary.

I'm brand new to the world of Bourbon and have only tried a few bottles.  My favorite so far, is Buffalo Trace, with Weller Special Reserve (the only Weller I've tried) coming in second.  A Woodson Special Reserve barrel pick is a distant third.  I've had one of the Four Roses variates, Basil Hayden and Makers Mark, but I primarily used them as mixers.  I remember liking the first two and not caring for the Makers Mark.

I like my bourbon to be sweet, in the same way I like my beer to be sweet.
