Quoted: The USAF has a bunch of random patches worn by guys in weird niches, and most of those have little to no history. Army division patches are worn by 10s of thousands of men at any given point in time, and those patches have been present for some serious history. Of the remaining active divisions, 1st ID, 1st CD, and 101st ABN have the most iconic patches. 25th ID and 2nd ID have the worst. 4th ID, 10th MTN, and 82nd ABN are good. 3rd ID is relatively forgettable, and the armor patches are kind of disappointing given that they just re-used the same thing and changed the number. He said the Chinese would attack the 1st CAV as a resupply method. He told me you knew that the 1st CAV had departed the battlefield because the Chinese would begin to shell his position using captured artillery that the 1st CAV had left behind. My Dad was 2ID. 30 years later i would wear the same patch. Attached File |

In the 80s in Germany I was in a Unit that flew VIPs. We flew the 5th Corps CG, the 3rd COSCOM CG, and a bunch of others. Some were great, others were assholes. You would land in the middle of nowhere and they would jump ina vehicle and off they went with no word fromt he General or his dog robber where they were going or when to expect them back. We had this patch made up for our flight suits... https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/5537/5-158-1286646.jpg View Quote Bravo sir. First patch nails it. From a former Marne man. |

I was an FO for every company in Leader-to include being the BN COLT Team Chief and deploying to Kosovo with ABU 20 years ago this month-and every company in Raider except HHC, as well as the Assistant BDE FSNCO for OEF I, between 97 and 02. |

Quoted: Your avatar doesn't check out? View Quote I personally have no aversion to the 1st CAV Div, but I always wondered how I would feel if orders came down to assign me to it. But also note that out of respect to my Dad there is no "horse blanket" patch being worn in that avatar. |

View Quote That’s hardcore, I was a short timer. Did Iraq 07-08 with HHC I in S6 but got passed around everywhere. Was at some patrol base called whiskey one and we built a COP called Meade. Went to Afghanistan in 10, with Dragon on a ABP compound near Orgun-e. First guy to go home no stop loss in 1-187. |
