Both those are excellent, watched them recently...along with Truth In 24 II: Every Second Counts which is about Audi's tough win at LeMans. Good doc. even if you don't like Audis or LeMans.

Fastest
is a great documentary on MotoGP, too.

I'm watching that right now!  Get out of my head.

If I'm in your head, that means your next movie selection will be Hari Kiri, Death of a Samurai. which is a pretty cool, slow building revenge flick about...well....a samurai who shows up to a lord's house asking permission to kill himself in their courtyard.

Also Jennifer Lawrence is easily my favorite A-list actor or actress.

Her performance in "Winter's Bone" was awesome; in Hunger Games she pretty much phoned it in.

Never seen winter's bone nor read the hunger games book.

Saw Hunger Games last night and thought it was average for today.
Would be a B- movie in the old days.

Good enough to recommend on Netflix, but I wouldn't recommend anyone go out and buy on blu ray.

Also it's hard to believe this is the same person:

Excellent movie indeed. I didn't know they had renamed it; I only knew it by it's official title "Seppuku". A few years ago I went through a Kurosawa phase. Japanese culture and their cultural rules fascinate me even today.

It's a shame they don't put all the Yoji Yamada samurai trilogy on Netflix...only Twilight Samurai is up. I recently got a hold of Love and Honor, and it's every bit as good as the other two.

"You polish the armor?"
"Of course, Lord, it is the pride of our house"

Nice memorable line. The first suicide will stick in anybody's head.  He went hard.

Seen it. Awesome. One of the best movies you can watch on Netflix. One worth owning, in my humble opinion.

I love most any well done historic asian film. I HATE dubs. I prefer subtitles.

My queue is fucking ridiculous and in part because of this thread. I'll be dead before I watch the last thing in it...which I think is some zombie stripper nazi movie about rockets.

Same here.

I also think that has to do with my tendency to watch something I've already seen that I know is good rather than watch something new that might suck.

For example I've seen 'Tucker and Dale vs Evil" about 20 times.

Very funny movie and having this chick in it doesn't hurt:

god, all the quirky classics when adult swim was "out there".  now it's just corporate schlock and the Jon Stewart "in" crowd who are so desperately lockstep to be cutting edge they don't know they're mainstream pablum.

Exiled was good. I prefer subtitles to dubs. If you can't do subtitles, than I guess not. It's description is good though. It's like a modern spaghetti western but with Asian culture.

ETA Story line (plot) is awesome. It really never hits a lull, and there is plenty of shooting and blood spray...and even some humor...if you laugh at the same things I do.

I just watched Memorial Day and I LOVED it. Made me punch myself in the balls for the 99th time for never squeezing my Grandfathers War stories out of them. One day soon, I'm going to lay out and take pics of some WW2 bring backs that my grandmother allowed to rot (they mostly survived, and there's a shoebox to the brim full of them.)

Everyone has a different opinion when it comes to movies.  Someone could say “In The Army Now” was the best war movie of all time and they wouldn't technically be wrong.  IMDB is the best way to determine how good a movie is according to the movie watching public rather than just one man's personal opinion.

And if IMDB ratings are done by "left wing wankers" then those left wing wankers have pretty good taste in movies

I always recommend this one. I wish it would be available for streaming.

'Platoon' won four Academy Awards including best picture and was nominated for four others (back when that meant something), but yeah, it sure did suck.

Why don't you go look at how highly they rate blatant leftist propaganda movies and call them "hard hitting".

I'm not saying it doesn't help.
I'm saying movies that don't promote the PC message get a lower rating than those that do.
Further, you can see the movie ratings drop or rise in real time as the word gets out what side it's on.

You can spin that any way you like.
