That looks like it's horrendously impractical but still fun as hell to shoot.

This thread popped up in "Active Topics" a couple of days ago.
It has the green circle that let me know I had looked at it before, so I clicked on the green circle to see what I had missed.

It was a LOT.

Green circle dropped me into the first ten posts on the first page.

Not sure how, but from those first posts to 26 pages I hadn't looked in again.  Now, two days later I have read every page.

Well done OP!

@InternationalM

The Mle. 49 is probably the most bombproof and user-friendly open-bolt subgun there is. French troops absolutely loved it, although their government was never keen on making weapons for mass export.

Hey OP, how much research do you put into these posts compared to how much information the sellers are presenting?

Are they short and to the point: "unknown type, possibly French" or "Glock as shown"    Or do they try to supply some details on the provenance, clear pics of markings,  if it functions, etc?

However much effort it takes you, thanks for keeping this up

This is just an another level of Middle-eastern gunsmithing.

As you can notice, original barrel has been swapped with a M249.

Suhail Mohammed Hamoud
“Abu Tow is from the town of Abadeta, he defected from the al-Assad forces in March 2012, after he had volunteered in the army as a Warrant Officer, specializing in launching the Malyutka missiles. "I was trained in the Syrian army to use the Russian Malyutka and red-arrow anti-armor missiles, which are not so different from the TOW missiles but do not enjoy the same precision, so I gained experience in dealing with all anti-shield missiles both in terms of structure and trajectory and regardless of their points of strength or weakness."

Elaborating on his success with anti-tank missiles, he said, "I destroyed around 70 targets, of which 57 machineries were destroyed through TOW missiles and 11 machineries through the Malyutka missiles. These targets included planes, tanks, armored vehicles and armored personnel carriers in addition to DShK machine guns."~2017 timeframe

Before joining the Sham Legion, he was a fighter in the Hazzm Movement and later the 101st Infantry Division, the 1st Coastal Division and 13th Division. All of these groups have received support from the United States, including with provisions of BGM-71 TOW anti-tank missiles. All of these groups are mainstream, non-sectarian rebel factions under the brand of the Free Syrian Army.
The anti-armor missiles he launched played a prominent role in inflicting heavy losses among Iranian militias. During fighting in Sheikh Aqeel, he killed a senior commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, al-Hajj Ibrahim, the third most important figure in the Iranian militia command in northern Syria. He was feared across the region. Fighters would chant his name "ABU TOW, ABU TOW" over handheld radios when he was in the area.

He participated in the Syrian revolution as a TOW and MALYUTKA gunner, and prefered MALYUTKA missiles more than TOW missiles, not because they are better than TOW, but the MALYUTKA missiles "hit a Russian tank or military vehicle with a Russian-made missile."

Arrested by HTS for tweeting an image of himself smoking in front of a "Smoking is Haram" sign put up by the Sunni Islamist militant group in 2017. He was accused of “derision of religion.”
"I want to send a message to those with bogus slogans and false beards: Stop persecuting the free Syrians who came out against Assad," he added.
He took a 3 year break due to multiple assassination attempts before resuming his reign of terror over regime troops.

On 18 March 2020, Hammoud was the target of a kidnapping attempt in the city of Idlib. He was shot in the foot, but the assailants were engaged by people accompanying him. HTS was blamed for the attack, but has denied this. After being hospitalized, Hamoud left Idlib governorate for northern Aleppo.

His latest kill count was 133 vehicles in 2020.

Quoted the pertinent part for those that don't want to dig through the article to find it.

Now in the late 2010s, this ammunition is exceedingly rare. In 2015 Houthi bombmakers demonstrated a remarkable “achievement”: spent 85mm casings from T-34s were reloaded with propellant extracted from AK-47 ammo, then re-primed with a primer taken out of modern artillery rounds, and capped with a custom-cast lead slug.

The severe dangers therein are endless: an overpressure rupture of the 70 year-old breech, a squib in the barrel, and so on. It’s no wonder the Yemenis don’t want to be in the turret when these rounds are shot.
