My in-laws are there finishing some family business...glad they’re ok.  And hope the Philippines in general are ok.

I was there when Pinatubo blew up. The ash column reached up miles into the sky and by mid-day, the sky was completely black. Then the ashfall started and it looked very much like it was snowing. This one has not erupted yet. Just spewing ash into the sky. Supposedly they're saying an eruption is imminent. I still have friends there and one of them posted these on facebook. This volcano is in the middle of a lake. The area around it is very nice and since it's close to Manila, very popular with tourists.

Yes it does that why I posted it, Trump and no sun spots the end is near

The lack of sunspots might be related.

There have been some giant volcanic eruptions and earthquakes during times of solar minimums.

From the most recent photos it looks like the wind shifted to the east a bit which will have Tagaytay getting covered in ash.  The view from the ridge is one of the most iconic postcard images of the Philippines (and a scene in Apocalypse Now).  Batangas already looked to have been spanked pretty badly with the ash

I was there in 2018, it was paradise.

Some of the locals snuck back on the island, they left some of the ponies tied up when they left..

My wife has some family in the area. I think that’s where her mother is from. She’s a little concerned about them.

One of my employees cannot get in contact with her family, apparently they live pretty close.

Thanks for reposting. Saved me the trouble.
Read somewhere too that the 1754 eruption lasted 6 months from May to December. Prior to that, the lake was salt water. The eruption changed the alkalinity to fresh water spawning several new species of fish as they evolved to survive in the now fresh water lake.
