What’s the logic in Mavis hanging the ATM out there without filling it? It seems we get gut punched twice with it now, first on the announcement and next when ever they fill it.

I was finally almost back even with NVAX, so I went ahead and sold out of that and put it into MVIS at 15.77.
DPLS is my only green stock today. Everything else is bleeding. ETA: Looks like I bought the dip properly for a change! |

No idea if there's merit to the idea, but this is a sector down day on a NASDAQ up day. The quarter ended, and reporting is required within 45 days. If memory serves they usually hold the EC in early August, so I'd expect to see the date announcement and some kind of teaser in the next couple of business days. By teaser, I mean "...and we'll talk Lidar progress", even if that talk amounts to "everything is on schedule and progressing as per plan". IMO there's two ways of thinking about the ATM. They had a $20 share price the day it was announced. Since they weren't operating from a position of desperation with $70M+ in the bank, they would have either placed the shares that day, or are anticipating a price surge from the cards they're holding and intend to sell into that. I told Dave something he obviously already knows...that no attempt to defend the share price for a month is going to do serious damage to investor confidence and create a killing field for the shorts. Honestly, he didn't seem overly concerned, which I thought was kind of curious. Buffett says the great CEOs pay almost no attention to the day-to-day stock movements of their companies, and concentrate on strategic execution to the exclusion of almost everything else. Knowing how far along they are at this point, it wouldn't surprise me if that's what's going on. Pretty much still boils down to one question...would you hire full strength, dilute to build a war chest, send out A-samples for verification and stand up a production line in Taiwan to start selling in Fall without a customer? Oh, and then do a public roll-out in Munich? If that's what Sumit is doing, it's the dice roll from Hell...and given the depth of his bench (the BOD) I don't believe they'd sanction that approach. We may be still waiting a signature, but we have to be damn close to it...again, in my opinion. Meanwhile, depending on who you believe (and it's gotten to the point that the retail community has discovered the "short interest" reporting is a complete shell game...but hey, I'm sure it's ALL perfectly legal) the total short interest has built to an all time high...30M+ shares. This, despite the moratorium some of the larger banks placed on shorting AMC, GME and MVIS. The people watching this closely claim the shorts are building towards an unsustainable FTD level. I do know they've made these predictions before, and the hedge funds have miraculously wiggled free every time. Disclaimer: still long, and holding 66K. |

View Quote The more I thought about the ATM the better my 2nd analysis looked. Company lays out the ATM at $20.54 and I know they can fill the $140M at any pps, but uses that as a scope for measure of dilution. They are not strapped for cash just bolstering the balance sheet to look sexier as a production partner. They also know the short interest will cause another pps peak, maybe even higher than the last few. Therefore they wait for the pop after the Russell rebalance and use the shorts to fill the ATM @ $20.54 or higher. We are seeing the short interest shake everyone out they can before they start/attempt/weasel their asses into returning the huge volume of shares borrowed. Disclaimer: my MVIS position is 335 shares plus 5 $20.50 strike calls expiring 9 July |

If you buy into NVDA now, before the split date do you get 4 for 1 share?
I ask because I thought I heard something about a cutoff date in June for ? |

Does it still show as if you have the same amount of shares you had, just valued at 4x the new share price after the split occurs? I don't know. |

Because the stock split is being initiated in the form of a stock dividend, the ex-dividend date governs which investors are eligible to receive the newly split shares. In this case, NVIDIA's stock split goes ex-dividend on July 19, according to a spokesperson for brokerage house Charles Schwab. This means that investors can buy NVIDIA shares right up to July 19, and still be eligible to receive the additional shares from the stock split once the shares begin trading on a split-adjusted basis when the market opens July 20." |

Anyone who owns the stock prior to the actual split date will be in on the split. The broker who sold you the shares will make sure the split gets assigned to you , even if you bought after the record date. |
