They were even more lame than Yoda was, at the time I figured a muppet with Grover's voice was going to be tough to beat for stupid. Lucas excelled. The only good part about them was watching them get sizzled.
But in general I think ROTJ was the best one of the bunch. |

It is a bit of a plot hole. With all the resources and technology at the disposal of the Empire, how did they miss those indigenous forest creatures? Or that the best troops the Empire had were bested by them?
Oddly enough ROTJ is stikl my favorite SW movie.

They shouldn’t have featured so prominently in RotJ. Should have been introduced in-movie as a native species on the Forest Moon and left on the sidelines...nothing more. Out-gunned and out-teched, facing a vastly superior fighting force; it was clown shoes.

I went to see that movie when it came out with a bunch of high school friends and one them referred to ewoks as "teddy bear monsters" so that's what I always think of anytime someone brings up the subject.

The weren't Jar Jar lame but they were fucking stupid.
They were actually supposed to be wookies, but Lucas didn't think he'd get to make all 3 movies so he introduced wookies. I personally think ROTJ should have had the rebels know there was a small colony of wookies living in the woods on moon of endor, they had fled the wookie planet when the empire took it over....kind of like our survivalists talk about 'heading to the hills' the space equivalent is 'head to some unknown moon!' and just by bad (or good) luck the empire then picks the same spot to build the deathstar II. Rebel would have been to mimic the Green Berets. Sneak onto the moon with a dozen guys and crates of weapons and a plan to convince the locals to take up arms against the enemy. Except of course you are giving wookies blasters not Montangyards M-1 carbnes. Would have eliminated all sorts of bad shit in that movie, like 3PO being seen as a god, rocks dropped from hang-gliders made of bark and leather...but allowed some stuff like log-traps toppling walkers as well as brute force bludgeoning attacks working okay against armored opponents. |
