I've built 2 AR pistols and both have the Shockwave. Its the simplest, about the cheapest and works the best, in my opinion. After all, its mainly just a stock like accessory while we cheek rest the pistol during firing. The tailhooks, sliding braces, etc, are highly expensive and in the end you will just cheek weld it for best results. You can use the standard PISTOL buffer tube for the Shockwave. On the top one I just drilled a small dimple in the tube and on the second one I used the KAK dimpled tube. Both worked just fine. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4306/36233547665_8c0c002aac_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2826/34160651681_179071e560_b.jpg View Quote I'm pretty certain that I'm going to just dimple the pistol buffer tube that's on it and add the Shockwave (if it fits). It seems to be the lightest available accessory of it's type, and the price is very good. |

I just run with the Phase 5 tube as is, but I assembled mine for the sole intention of working around PA laws. I was still delivering pizzas part time at the time, and the neighborhood I was living in at the time made national news a few times because of all the fucked up shit going on in that town. By the time these hit the market I had already found that it worked pretty well for the parameters I arbitrarily set for it without a brace. As with all things there is a trade-off, but having what amounts to a rifle that is legally a pistol and therefore can be carried loaded and ready as such as per PA law was more than enough justification for me to drop $1500 at the time on what was considered pointless by many on this forum. It tucks nicely between the seats and console, even in my Civic, is easy to get on the sights while seat belted in, it fits nicely into quite a few loopholes, and I am getting the best use of my powder with it being chambered in 300AAC. I want to build another one and modify a bump fire system to a brace as an ultimate fuck you to the ATF, but I have cut back on my firearms spending until further notice in lieu of putting my money in other investments - I have what I need and then some already. Maybe I'll build two simply because the idea of dual wielding not automatic not rifles kind of makes my freedom boner move a bit. But that was REALLY nice to have when I got lost in Memphis on my way to meet Army_of_Ender to adopt a dog, and I didn't have to declare that I would be travelling through idk how many states prior to making the trip that I decided to make on a whim. This is ARFCOM, why not get both. View Quote |

Og sig brace user
Good for you op not wanting to pay the tax to sbr. While it's a revenue stream the nfa will go no where. |
|
I just finished my first pistol build, so this thread is well timed. I will be looking at the Sig brace and SBM4 brace tomorrow. I like the looks of the SBM4 brace a lot, hopefully it works as well as (I think) it looks.
|
|
Sig brace is comfortable to me. I haven't tried any others.
Brace bumps right up to this KAK Super Sig Buffer Tube Tight fitting as hell, but that is probably a good thing. |
|
Shockwave. Because it's priced right.
With how the laws/regs/opinions regarding braces are fluid, I wouldn't put too much money into them. |
|
Yeah, it's nice. But I can't see spending $400 for something that I'll never strap to my arm. Price drops to $200, then I'd reconsider.

|
Maxim defense cqb pistol on my ar pistol.
Edit I paid more for the trigger in it than the brace. I paid more for the can for it than the brace. Grabagun ran the brace on sale for just over 300. |
|
Why the heck doesn't the BATF/Congress/whoever just remove SBR/SBS from the NFA?
Braces make the whole thing ridiculous/hypocritical ........... Suppressors too, of course. Just think how fast MG transfers would be without suppressors/SBR/SBS in the mix ............. |

I have several stamps but damn what a pain in the ass to travel. Gonna go the brace route when I travel.

+1 Same in PA. I'm still a little way from completing my first AR pistol.
Has anyone used the Thordsen buffer with cheek rest? What about the Phase 5? |

A stamp will still be approved when the ATF changes their minds again

I've been looking in the AR pistol section, but the information seems pretty disjointed. I just ordered a pistol AR kit, and I'm trying to determine what brace is going to go on it. So far, the Shockwave seems to make the most sense, but it requires a very specific proprietary buffer tube, right? What are the other options that aren't total crap?? View Quote Stocks. |

I have the thordsen setup on a kak extended tube and like it, waiting for my $20 sbx brace to get here. Attached File

Sometimes PSA has them for less. I saw one a few weeks back as a complete pistol lower for around $350. http://palmettostatearmory.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/370x370/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/p/d/pdwbrace1.jpg View Quote |

I have a Sig M400 pistol with their brace on it. I generally don't like wasting my time building anything. I like the M400 pistol set up.
|
|
Are you certain that's a pistol arm brace?? It says "stock" on the site, which would either be felony without a stamp, or a lame 1 yr wait, required engraving, and no ability to travel interstate without asking the ATF "pretty please?"

I have the Kak and love it. I like the extended tubes like Odin Works and a foam pad, or Spikes tube cover. I can shoot them just as comfortably and not spend a fortune.
