My Dad had one when I was growing up and I lusted after that truck. The body was straight as an arrow, and he'd pulled the 6 cyl out of it and put in a 302 he'd pulled out of a mustang. He sold it after I left for the Army.

I had one of these when I was in high school, and like a dumbass I wasn't smart enough to realize what I had. I would love to have one again.

I'm looking at that or a Corvette next year. If I do the Cobra it would be a cheap one though.

My little brother's first vehicle was a 65 Ford PU like that. Dad bought it for him for his 15th birthday. He and my uncle rebuilt the old 351 Windsor. Soon as it was running, he wants me to go with him to drive it on some logging roads. I drive the pavement then he gets his shakedown in his truck. I shit not....he only makes it a quarter mile...i see a large pine bough jutting diagonal into the road...

"Get over a bit, a limb is there."

"OK, i see it."

"GET OVER, GET OVER..."

He skewered the grill, radiator and fan.

I jump out, pull the 4' of lumber out, push him to the passenger side and run the truck full bore back the half mile to the house. I was going to call him a dumbass, but he was sick enough about it.

My father was more puzzled about how he could have fucked up his new gift so fast than he was mad about it. He said: "You boys have only been gone five minutes, tops?"

Evidently surprisingly tame as a daily driver.  I've seen one pull up next to me in traffic in the Villages near Houston.  Wish I'd have thought to get a picture.

Amazingly low; I wouldn't want to drive it on Houston's Third World roads.  But that guy does.

From what I understand "maverick" tested the best in the younger demographic, so technically they DID put some effort in for certain values of "best".

Their marketing wanks aren't particularly imaginative.

It would probably kill me, but it'd be a fun way to go.

Generally I'd be down for any of the rare documented Group B Works units - preferably a later Evolution or E2. Really Moutons '81 Sanremo car, a Group 4 Quattro would be my first choice, but it's not in private hands.

This is a documented 86 Delta S4 Rallye - Works Recce (pre-race driving the course) example. Didn't sell at Bonhams Paris in '18 Prolly worth $800-1.2M. Toivonen's 1986 Monte Carlo winning S4 sold last year for just short of $2M. I'd want a Recce, not a race winner, to drive - shit happens, as it did to John Dixon's 959.

With big lottery money, you could prolly shake loose one of the Hart engined cars. Hell prolly one of the 4 Evo S.

Long as you can handle a dog-box (easy enough to get the hang), some quirks, but dynamics aren't particularly tough - sure the Evos are a bit high strung, but might not kill ya Pack an insulated bottle of cold water if warm.

It wasn't that long ago 200s were attainable non-lottery

My understanding is that if you can find an old Prodrive-built rally car, you can send it to them along with a giant pile of cash and they'll restore it.  A mid/late '90's Impreza has to be available somewhere.  Or honestly, one of the Legacy's from 92 or so would be cool as well.

I would buy five Tacoma's.

That means I would never have to buy another truck in my lifetime.

I would use the money left for a 40yr lease on a hanger and a few planes.

Probably one of Mil-Spec's 500hp offroad F150's for shits and giggles, and some sort of small SUV as a daily driver... Something like an S10 Blazer, or a small pickup that size with a camper shell.

I like the bronco with a 4 cylinder, but fuck me, the front end is ugly as sin. Hard to justify spending double that on a Macan.

‘57 Nomad restomod tastefully done that looked original.  Not custom body shit done to it.

If I could get in and out of it, GT40. The early 2000’s model.  I’m 60, fat with bad knees and back. Daily is a 2015 Mustang GT.

I’d also try on one of those fancy Porsche 911 types for fit as well.  I really like the ‘80’s models, whale tail and wide body, black on black. I’ll take a new one too.
