The Constitution means what it says, and says what it means. Do what you want in life provided it doesn't affect anyone other than yourself, ie: mind your own fucking business.

Kind of all over the place.

Conservative on some stuff (guns, crime,  fiscal policy, executions)

Moderate on others (abortion. marijuana).

Not a liberal at all.

Buncha fucking wise guys in here.  I know what the Constitution is and I know what the word libertarian originally meant.  I'm asking what does it mean to you in practice?  The L party has transitioned over the years from being truly libertarian to being conservatives who wanted to smoke dope, to now mostly liberals that want to keep their guns and are too idealistic to realize their guy will never win and instead empowers even more statist bullshit.

I was hoping this thread would have folks saying there really is no division and the lesser of evils is still evil and maybe just maybe some think-tank ideas would spawn. Seems mad but why couldn't a leader rise up from arfcom considering we have billionaires and Elon their way up to a new party that will gain traction? Ok, laugh at me now lol.

I vote for whoever is for reducing the size and cost of the federal government. Which happens once every few decades, kind of.

Politicians should also be required to take a test on the constitution. Read and write a report on both the federalist and anti federalist papers and what whatever side means to them.

I'm 52 and I don't know of any politician that has ever had a platform that didn't revolve around bringing home the bacon in one way or the other.

For most of my life it has in the past boiled down to pro union or anti union. Now that unions are almost a thing of the past here they dream up new stuff to sell to the public.

I have some ideas.  First and most important is we need to all get off our ideological high-horses and figure out how to cobble together enough people who are like-minded and/or open-minded enough to find common ground and work together for the betterment of America.  We need to find a way to reverse the course of the intense tribalism that has been building since Obama, doubled under Trump, and doubled again under Biden/NeverTrump.  Most of us on this site should have more in common than not and should be able to pull our shit together enough to do something useful politically.  The division is mostly pedantic and stupid based on specific politicians or minute ideological differences that are only a big deal because the politicians make it so in order to divide people and claim their piece of the tribal votes.

The best thing we can do is get back to the idea that most of the stuff politicians argue about is none of the government's fucking business in the first place, then work towards finding common ground from there.

It would be the most badass sovereign nation with low crime, low taxes, low poverty, and extreme freedom. Could you imagine how boring it would be — everyone walking around, minding their own business?

I'm against authoritarianism, regardless of if they wear red or blue.

I'd definitely consider myself to be a liberal.

Unfortunately most people that use that word mean the opposite... for example, fucking commies.

TRUTH

1861–1933. After the election of Abraham Lincoln, Southern Democrats led the charge to secede from the Union and establish the Confederate States. The United States Congress was dominated by Republicans, save for Andrew Johnson of Tennessee, the only senator from a state in rebellion to reject secession.

The Southern Democrats, reflecting the views of the late John C. Calhoun, insisted slavery was national. The Democrats controlled the national government from 1853 until 1861, and Presidents Pierce and Buchanan were friendly to Southern interests.

Southern Democrats are affiliates of the U.S. Democratic Party who reside in the Southern United States.[1] Most of them voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by holding the longest filibuster in American Senate history while Democrats in non-Southern states supported the Civil Rights Act of 1964.[2] After 1994 the Republicans typically won most elections in the South

liberal democrats

This part is true. But by 1824 the parties spilt and the birth of the Republican and Democratic parties came to be. The lie is the Civil War was start by a political party that no longer existed. But some sites on line say the war was started by Democratic-Republicans of the South. I guess that way both parties could be blamed. When in fact they were referred to as Southern Democrats. The Democratic Party saw itself as a champion of republicanism and denounced the Federalists as supporters of monarchy and aristocracy ??

willingness to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one's own; openness to new ideas.

the holding of political views that are socially progressive and promote social welfare.
The borough prides itself on being a great bastion of liberalism and diversity" ( well they do support BLM and trans rights to indoctrinate children not to mention they now identify as the Democratic Socialist party)

THEOLOGY
the belief that many traditional beliefs are dispensable, invalidated by modern thought, or liable to change. ( this is true because they say the Constitution is outdated)

2.  a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise. (This is just a bold faced LIE they stand against these things in favor of a socialists form of government)

t.3.  The doctrine of a Liberal Party or (in the UK) the Liberal Democrats. (We've said this many times. They want to be more like the UK and Australia in form of government)

What is liberalism in simple words?

Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on the rights of the individual, liberty, consent of the governed, political equality and equality before the law.

Man someone's been lying a lot lately based upon their actions of stripping away freedoms and suppression of opposition and that equality before the law. Well we can see how that's playing out in real time.
??

Conservatism

commitment to traditional values and ideas.

"proponents of theological conservatism"

the holding of political views that favor free enterprise, private ownership, and socially traditional ideas.
"a party that espoused conservatism"

I used to consider myself a conservative Republican. In 2020 I changed my party  affiliation to independent, because I no longer consider myself a Republican. Just a conservative.

There has only been one time in my life I did not vote for the Republican presidential candidate, and that was for that piece of shit McStain. I was going to hold my nose and vote  for him until he publicly excoriated some radio guy named Bill Cunningham for using Barak Husain Obama’s full name in a speech. After that I was done with that cunt and did not vote in that election.
