Ruger LC9.  I bought one when they first came out and was excited to try it out.  I couldn't hit shit with it.  I know, not the gun's fault.  But the damn thing was TOO light and thin.  Every time I shot it it felt like a firecracker going off in my hand.  It concealed better than any gun I ever owned but I just couldn't shoot the damn thing.  Sold it and bought a Glock 19.

For me it was a Springfield TRP Stainless.
I really liked the gun as it shot well but it always had issues with rust spots no matter what you did or where it was stored.

I sent it in twice for refinish; after the 2nd time I traded it off.

To this day, SAs are the only stainless guns I’ve ever had issues with; 2 Xds and the TRP.

Ruger, Kahr, S&W, and Colt - no issues with their stainless guns.

What a piece of shit

I mean its reliable and accurate. But between the ridiculous recoil(when compared to other 762 semis) and the awkward cocking.....

Atleast they got it right with the HK33/53 and MP5 variants

I feel like we just did this.

GSG mp5 22. If you pull apart the lower and look at the trigger mechanism, it looks like something that came out of a cereal box.

After shooting the kriss vector I wasn't impressed. Manual of arms doesn't make sense. Your offhand doesn't have a great place to sit without hitting the bolt release on accident. The feel of the gun reminds me of those old clamshell style bullpup kits for the sks. And those were terrible.

The butchered UMP. It just looks and feels like cheap garbage.

When money was tighter for me I never bought a gun I couldn't handle first.  There were a lot I was disappointed by.  In recent years I could buy to try, so have had some I ditched, but not real emotional feeling about it.  Shield was OK to me until I handled a Sig 365XL.  Hated the Shield from that moment.  Sold it in the covid panic for more than I had paid, along with 6 other guns that bored me.

I got started in firearms in late 1980's and bought pretty heavy in the 90's. Back then there was Colt (for 1911s) and some odd stuff like Para.
Pretty much everyone understood you bought the factory Colt as a project gun that might run 230 ball if you were lucky and after you had work done on it and had aftermarket magazines you might beat it into something reliable . In retrospect it was a odd way to do guns . Not like Colts were ever cheap .

A 1911 that is set up with a good trigger and runs reliably is a beautiful thing.

Sig P250.  Really wanted to like this gun, but in the end it was a blah.  Shot just fine, but trigger pull was longer than necessary, albeit light enough to get past with some practice,  Modularity was cool, it Sig screwed us on the proposed 20 and 16 round mags, though I did have 3 of the16 rounders as they worked fine.  In the end sold it cheap and bought another Glock

First pistol I ever bought. I liked the look mostly. Trigger broke nice but I was too dumb and green to understand it wouldn’t work well for fast follow up shots. Traded it for an M&P to Hero Gear (r.i.p.) for what I had in it. I liked that one a lot more. That trigger was weird though too in its own way.

Glock 17 and 19 I bought at the same time a little post-Obama gun rush.  Both ran like crap, lots of FTF and FTE. Wanna say both were Georgia manufactured and not Austrian. Can’t recall for certain. The 19 had a chalkboard finish but I had ordered it from buds so I didn’t see it until it came in. Hated those guns though and soured me on glocks for at least a year when I decided to pick up a 26 that runs like a top and I’ve carried for nearly a decade now at least.

Xdm9 because the front end weighed a ton and I could never get used to how it felt. I wanted it for IDPA but could never break presenting it low when the buzzer went off.

Also it took four pages for any Springfield disappointment to show up.

Over the years bought quite a few Rugers that never got past just barely useable.

Bought a stainless Ranch Rifle that threw larger patterns than most of my shotguns , Back in the 80's? when the stainless first came out, guess the barrel harmonics where shitty. Glad to have traded that POS on my first AR many years ago. Yeah I know some of the Ranch Rifles would shoot reasonably but the one I had was trash and both times I paid to ship it to Ruger they said it was fine.

Bought a early (factory new) P85 in 9mm . Big strong heavy bastard that has such a nasty trigger it is hard to hit anything and just no fun at all. Still have that stupid thing.

Bought the early Ruger 9mm PCC that was sort of a copy of the M1 Carbine in 9mm. First time I pulled the bolt back to check the chamber some spring on the bolt ate itself up and the gun was fubar. Took Ruger 6 weeks to return that junker to me and the trigger was just plain poor. Traded it off for a first gen G19 that is great.

Bought a S&W 45acp moon clip revolver "thunder Ranch". Kind of a cool gun but it is such a super light alloy that it is nasty to shoot even with light loads .Still working with this .

Not COTS but the 20" precision 5.56 AR I built has been a massive disappointment considering how much money I dumped into it. My Ruger American 16" 308 in a magpul chassis and bipod is about twice as accurate and cost about 1/3 what I put into that AR.

Golcks- love/hate

Got a first gen 19 that is pretty great.
Bought a G34 thinking I would do better on plate shoots and stuff than the 19 but it (for me) is no faster .

Got a G30 when I wanted a large caliber carry gun . I still have it because I shoot it surprisingly well but as a 1911 guy it just feels so wrong . Then there is the age old problem that heavy guns are horrible to carry.

Got a G26 thinking I would carry it but for me I found I shoot my 642 much better and it is easier to carry. Yeah , I know 5 vs 10 and less power but I used the 26 so seldom I sold it off at a pretty good profit six months back

Kahr CW40.
Magazine would drop out of the pistol with every shot.
Customer service was very responsive, sent me multiple replacement mags and even had a tech on the phone telling me what internal parts to file down.
End result: no change, mags dropped after every shot.

The thing kicks harder than a pump and it doesn't run worth a shit, the buttstock it came with was essentially a piece of scrap 2x4 painted black, and I paid way too much for it as a panic buy when sandy hook was taking off

@mk4dubbin

Ref that V12, the stocks the first batch came in with were basically designed to be as cheap as possible with the idea they'd get thrown away when the diehards installed the proper polymer stocks or the side folders.

Ref not running, what loads did/do you use with it? I've found for birdshot the grey hulled/gold base Win AA 1 1/8oz 3 dram are the lowest power you can use to get reliable cycling https://winchester.com/Products/Ammunition/Shotshell/AA/AASC127

If it's buckshot or slugs not functioning, you might have a gas port partially or fully obstructed when the gas block was installed. The V12s seem to have had far superior QC compared to the Saiga 12s from the early 2000s, but I'm sure some lemons slipped through.

Kel-Tec RFB.  I read all of the reports of it being a crappy gun when it came out in 2010 and purchased mine in 2016 thinking "Any respectable company HAD to have fixed these issues by now so it HAS to be a good gun now, right?"  RIGHT?!?!?!?  How do people lack so much integrity that they keep selling products they KNOW have major issues?

UTAS XTR-12 Shotgun.  If it goes three rounds without jamming it was a good run.  I made the mistake of buying this turkish crap when it first came out.   Years later I saw a review in Recoil magazine of semi-auto shotguns and it was on the list.  I hoped that it got a great review and they solved the issues so I could send it back and it get it repaired so it would work.  I think they gave it a 1 out of 5 stars.  Same as Kel-Tec - idiots are still buying it so why stop selling it or fix it?

Sig P226.  I traded arm & leg for that thing.  Saved up while in college for it.  I took it to the academy with me.  It just had too much muzzle flip from being so top heavy.  I loved the the way it felt in my hand but the best scores I could get were in the low 90's range.  Second round follow up was slower than it should be.

I sold it and bought a G21 but it was too big and I went back to a G22 which I carried for several years.  I had to carry a 9mm at one department and bought a G17 and carried it.  Now I carry a G23.

Am I a Glock fan?  A little bit but I have found few pistols that fit my hand right and have a low bore axis too.

As for the poster who says the P7 needs a death grip.  Not really if you push out with your strong hand and pull in with your weak hand.  Even if your holding light with your strong hand the weak hand will hold the cocking mechanism back.  I found they shot great but don't expect to shoot a box of ammo very fast as they heat up rather quickly and can get uncomfortable.

Have to go with this one myself. Bought one with the rubberized grips, night sights, and larger cap Mecgar mags as standard along with a .22lr slide and mag kit.

The .22lr kit would best be described as finicky at best.

As for the 9mm slide, not sure if it was the way I held the gun in my banana hands, but that thing would never lock back on an empty mag. Also had a recoil impulse that made it feel like I was getting more muzzle flip from it compared to an XD40 I had at the time.

I really wanted to like that pistol, but I eventually sold if off along with the .22lr kit.

Now that my coffee has kicked in I do have a example other than my AR Build. Beretta 71.

I picked it up used with the fake suppressor and removed the faux can and added the 1/2-28 adapter to use it as a suppressor host because *tier 1 mossad action*. I could never get it to run right. Craftsmanship was garbage. Horrible machining marks all over and awful fit and finish. I bought a bunch of mags, took the whole thing apart and cleaned it and put all new springs in it. It would never feed consistently even without a can on it. With a can it would get gunked up within about 20 rounds and not operate reliably.

It looked and sounded cool suppressed for the few rounds you could get through it before it shit fucked itself but I sold it this year.

CZ P-01 Omega (recent)
SPAS12 (long ago)

The CZ had a HORRIBLE trigger out of the box.   After a trip back to the factory, and the later addition of some CGW springs, it got up to the "acceptable" level, but soured me on buying any more CZ 75 series pistols.  I was very disappointed, as I had high hopes (everyone here loves them), but they're not for me and will be trading it away shortly.

The SPAS12 -- heavy, clunky, and generally unpleasant.   I sold it off before even going on my 1st Raptor hunt.

I bought the m1a loaded from SA,  After three trips to SA it was still only 80% reliable.  I wanted to love the gun. It just didn’t do anything well,  heavy, 1.5 -2 moa with match ammo when it fed.   Sold for a loss as SA would not help me out.

Preorder and received a Special Weapons SP10 From AZ, the gun never made it through a full mag it was super garbage. The company went out of business and I sold the gun for parts

John Hancock rifle from P V A , paid 2k waited forever.   It’s a meh… didn’t even come with a mag and shoots about 1moa with match ammo.  Nothing special, the seekins havok bravo was hundreds less and better all around.

G17 and G26 already gone. Replaced by Smith M&P's that have been awesome.

G22 with the slick no grip slide finish and a gen 5 G19 with the retarded half moon cutout at the bottom of the grip waiting for the next panic to be sold off.
