How is it overall?  The reviews I’ve seen weren’t promising.

It’s basically an action thriller magical romance show.

He’s a handsome princely kingish guy, powerful swordfighter equipped with an ancient, powerful magical sword, yet he’s afflicted by a curse.

She’s a beautiful, ancient, lonesome and powerful witch, carrying some powerful ‘baggage’ that she picked up over those oh-so-many years of her lonely history, staying cooped up in her magical tower that she uses to toy with hapless adventurers, but she also knows how to remove curses, easy-peasy (well, maybe without that ‘peasy’ part). Oh, and she knows how to brew a really delicious cup of tea and enjoys putting on tea parties.

They live in a land afflicted by powerful, monstrous, and demonic enemies and beset by mischievous, meddling witchy bitch witches as well as by a megalomaniac with kami-sama-scale evil ambitions.

Will his royal studliness finally bed down the reluctant witchess? Or will evil reign triumphant?

Stay tuned.

Yeah, I actually enjoyed it.

P.S. - It's supposedly getting a season 2.

Oh - and after finishing all 12 episodes of Train to the End of the World...

1. I sorta want to build a model railroad, with an electric train (電車) and bridges just like the ones in the show, and...

2. I will have to get a dog and name it Pochi (ポチ), and...

3. To hell with this 5G stuff, I need to get my hands on some 7G.

The dub of The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World has probably the worst voice acting I’ve ever heard for a male MC.  It’s not uncommon for females to voice adolescent males in anime, but they usually at least attempt to sound like adolescent males.  This is simply a grown woman just straight up doing a grown woman voice for a 14 year old male character.

Making the casting decision even more baffling is the fact that the VA is so obscure that she doesn’t even have a wiki page.

IIRC, I brought that issue up (other than the VA's obscurity) when it first released and everybody told me I was making too big a deal of it and that everything was fine.

I'm not a fan of that, either, but at least it's understandable or somewhat close.

The MC is Hobin in the original Korean, but Shimura any time a character says his name.
Localized names are fine, but at least update the sub for consistency!

This nearly counts as watching a sub and dub at the same time.

Toyota to sell 860 Panda Truenos in the USA.

https://www.caranddriver.com/toyota/gr-86

Hold on to your tofu folks, because Toyota adds a special Trueno Edition to the GR86 line for 2024. A tribute to the AE86 Corolla, made popular by the automotive anime Initial D, the special edition adds a performance package with Sachs dampers and Brembo brakes. Toyota plans to send just 860 (see what they did there?) Trueno Editions to the U.S. market. The suspension and brake upgrades for the Trueno Edition models are also available throughout the GR86 model line for 2024. The Brembo brake calipers and larger-diameter rotors are dealer-installed options for GR86s with 18-inch wheels. Additionally, the stick-shift GR86 now comes with adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking.

Why 860?

I loved S1 and S2 of KonoSuba, but the Megumin prequel left such a bad taste in my mouth that S3 of KonoSuba got demoted to the “bingewatch when the season is finished” list.

I watched E1 yesterday and it was very disconcerting that I didn’t laugh once (a first for a KonoSuba episode).  But thankfully it quickly turned around and S3 ended up being pretty good.

The New Gate, atrocious animation aside, was okay. Possibly enough so that I'd consider the light novels. The plot was interesting enough.

That said, it fits solidly at the lower mid tier of the trash anime spectrum. I don't regret watching it, but I wouldn't spend money to do so.

Another factor is that there are two rookies driving 8-6 cars in the fourth racing season of MF Ghost; Kanata in Ogata's old red FR-86, and Mai in her new black on white GR-86. Kanata races with the number 86, and Mai's car bears the number 860. So the 860 limited edition GR-86s match the number painted on the doors of the only GR-86 to qualify for a MFG race.

As someone who's generally a fan of trashy anime tropes where the MC is super-OP, lives within a game virtual world, and builds a harem of cute girls, I'd say that yeah, it ticks all of the boxes...

Any opinions on Delicious in Dungeon?

I definitely can’t claim false advertising based on the title, but after two episodes it seems to be pretty much just a party cooking and eating monsters in a dungeon.  I figured that would SOME of the anime, but I didn’t think it’d be pretty much ALL of the anime.  Does it ever evolve beyond that?

As expected, the season finale of Demon Slayer was very good and the best episode of the season (not exactly a high bar).  However, it wasn’t even close to being enough to prevent this from being EASILY the most boring season.

Thankfully, based on how the season ended, in the next installment Demon Slayer will return to form.

“Solidly at the lower mid tier of the trash anime spectrum” sounds about right assuming one takes into account the animation team quitting midseason  forcing them to outsource.

I found it interesting, and it does really pick up about 2/3rds in.
To be sure, if you really don’t like it right now, it’s probably a good one to skip as it is repetitious.

As far as cooking shows go, it’s not even close to Restraunt to another World.

Well, there's the parts where they sit casually by while orcs slaughter an inn full of humans, and their casual looting of adventure corpses while leaving the dead in a world where resurrection is apparently no big deal.

I can't remember how many episodes I watched before I decided they were just garbage people and stopped wasting my time. I might go back and finish watching some day if I ever get bored enough, but I don't really see that happening.

Yes, I put a few manga pages in a spoiler in post #20 on this page, but it was just a scene from the beginning of race five, so all it spoils is who qualified 14th and 13th, and that 14th made an early pass.

Did you watch Initial D?

Many of the current season's rookies (and IIRC all five of the guest commentators on race days) have links to Initial D.

There's Kanata, who is Takumi's protege, and this year's anime season should introduce at least one of the others.

Ryosuke seem to have ties to Kanata beyond their mutual friendship with Takumi.

Me too. But I checked and Itsuki's name isn't Ogata, it's Takeuchi.

We're at the start of manga Chapter 57 at the end of Season 1.
If we make it to Chapter 114 or so, we'll be early in the 3rd raced when Season 2 ends.

Itsuki is married, but still works at the same gas station.
He and Iketani (still single) have brief speaking roles in Season 2 this fall. Kenji too. (I always have to stop and think in order to tell the difference between Kenji (Takumi's friend) and Kenta (Keisuki's sidekick).

I am seeing some superficial similarities to The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today (デキる猫は今日も憂鬱: Dekiru Neko wa Kyō mo Yūutsu) - except that the fat cat really creeped me out, while, so far, at least, I am only getting an occasional ‘uh-oh’ vibe from robot-girl waifu.

That may change in time, of course, but at least for now I will give it a chance.

I don’t particularly enjoy rom-com sitcoms, which is what this appears to be so far - but maybe there’s more to it.

He and Iketani (still single) have brief speaking roles in Season 2 this fall. Kenji too. (I always have to stop and think in order to tell the difference between Kenji (Takumi's friend) and Kenta (Keisuki's sidekick).

Wow  don't really think of gas station attendant, being a 'forever job' lol.

*** Even crazier to think ID began 26 years ago (for the anime. 29 years for the manga).
Once upon a time, gas station attendant was a career job in America, too.

I worked at a full service station in Florida once upon a time where the car would pull up and three of us would hustle out. One guy pumped the gas, another checked oil, coolant, battery, hoses, and belts  under the hood. Air filter as well if there was time. Last guy would wash windows, check and (if necessary) top off the tires.

Time was, an honest job wasn't anything to be ashamed of, and the termites hadn't yet sufficiently eaten away at the heart of America that a guy couldn't support a wife, a house, and a couple or three kids on such a job.

And before you zoomers get all frothy, we lived with far fewer expenses because most of the shit you all consider mandatory didn't exist.
