The time in between the end of one anime season and the takeoff of the next one is always awkward - what can I do to pass that time quickly?
So far I've been using this season ending to catch up on some Crunchyroll shows that I somehow missed. For example, Bartender season 1, and earlier seasons of Black Butler. I've also been tempted to pick up on some of Sound Euphonium. But I still find myself more confused than ever by the new-ish HIDIVE web user interface. Anyone else having problems figuring out what's worth watching there? Any suggestions for things that may have been missed? Maybe Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night? Anything else? |

I’m trying to enjoy Infinite Dendrogram for the trash isekai/reincarnation/video game anime it is, but the MC’s incessant gross stupidity is making it difficult.

"The Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party, Became Invincible" looks like an attempted ripoff of Mashle.
Super OP MC - check. Super dumb MC - check. Completely underestimated by virtually everyone else - check. Occasional LOL physical comedy - check. But I think that Mashle did it better. And the animation sucks. |

Yep, by the time I got back from Europe, 'mini-serves' were popping up everywhere, where you could get gas a couple of cents a gallon cheaper, but all the attendant would do was pump gas. There were states where it was flat illegal for the customer to pump their own gas. Then came the pre-pay and pump your own, and finally, what we've got now. The last full serve I recall seeing shut down and became a straight repair shop about 5-10 years ago. It had been in business since the '50s, and was dead in the middle of what is now a residential neighborhood. |

I politely tried to tell her I didn’t work for Texaco, she was really pissed I refused the job, went in and just went off on the owner of the station. I’m all giddy to go back again to pick him up and hang out in Nagoya. We’ll probably sneak in a daytrip or two. |

Oshi no Ko season 2… man that first episode was done beautifully! I love how they animated the 2.5D play and I might be wrong but it looks like they upped the production this season.

(Attia Simmons, who padded herself from petite up to perky) I ended up starting to read the manga. The manga is pretty much the same plot as the anime, until that day when Satella invited Kazuya to her dorm room for the night. The beginning and the end were the same, but the way Kazuya ended up in the infirmary instead of Satella's bed was entirely different. And I wondered just how important the Pandoras were to the government. If one of them killed a civilian because the civilian totally asked for it, would the authorities say 'fucked around and found out', or would they jail the Pandora? https://mangadex.org/chapter/b060b0ba-4322-4d9d-9d0a-88b7d1387017 |

Our TV died last week. We bought what should have been a slight improvement in quality in the same size. So why am I cussing you say? The new TV is a Visio and it has no provision for adding new apps that aren't on it's pre-loaded list. So the two "channels" I watch the most, Crunchyroll being one, are not on the list. That said, I was able to binge Fruits Basket and I think you guys are giving it a bad rap. Sure it deals with some fucked up background scenarios and the family dynamics are all kinds of weird among the Zodiacs. BUT it has some great scenes on loyalty, personal growth, choosing to do the right thing, and the strength of choosing a "family" of trustworthy people to replace missing or toxic real relatives. The way you guys talked about it, I thought it was going to be pure debauchery. I put off watching the series for quite a while. I also enjoyed the last of the One Piece episodes that I saw, but it seems a bit "off" since the crew left Wano. Maybe it's just me. I am missing the end of Demon Slayers unless I watch it on my laptop, or figure out a way to mirror it to the new TV. I did enjoy the training arc. The bit with the waterfall was classic. The surprise highpoint for me was That Time I Was Reincarnated as a Slime. IMHO it is the best or second best trashy Isekai I have ever watched. |

View Quote Just buy a Roku 4k or Amazon Fire Cube 4k |

Is it something akin to an immutable law of nature that over time the underlying premise of the newest anime series (often reflected in long and convoluted show titles) must inexorably get more and more bizarre and unbelievable?
Case in point: The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord's Army Was a Human I've only watched the 2 episodes released so far, but, it makes even less sense that a human can pass for a demon just by wearing a Halloween costume and mask (augmented by a touch of magic) without (mostly) anyone catching on, than it did for a pair of nerdy glasses to hide Superman's alternate identity as Clark Kent. Yeah, I get it that it makes for a bit of suspense as a continuing plot point - namely, will his identity be exposed, by whom and under what circumstances, and what will happen as a result - but if the entire story rests on a stupidly unbelievable premise, can the series possibly rise above the preposterous level? OK, it's a trash anime, so maybe it doesn't have to, but, honestly, what were they thinking? I guess that the intended audience may have something to do with that - maybe if you're a young kid you might not notice the rank stupidity of the premise, but... Then there's "Days With My Stepsister" - which looks like it will be a tsundere rom-com, and probably will have some appeal for ecchi enthusiasts and lolicons and perverts (then again, maybe that covers the majority of the anime audience). Granted, it's not all that novel a premise, as I've seen similar setups before, and the situation is not nearly as taboo as that underlying all of the arguably-incestuous imouto-sis-con genre shows, but still. Is that the only way (or the primary way) for a new series to attract buzz (and eyeballs)? Yeah, 'suspension of disbelief' is a necessary ingredient for most fantasy, but there are some limits, aren't there? Maybe it's just clever marketing - but there does appear to be a steady descent into the depths of trashdom, and it's unclear that any end is in sight... History indicates that Conservative Americans only have three speeds: silence, peaceful protest rallies, and Total Industrialized Warfare. They excel at the latter.

Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and Annihilated Everything with Low-Level Spells
I was intrigued by the first episode, so I pulled up the manga from my usual source, and it looks to be pretty decent. Like a a few steps above popular trash isekai decent. It's got all our favorites like: - Long overly specific title. - Asshole goddess - MC that's treated like garbage and is out for revenge without being a pussy. (Ulike shield hero) - MC that's not afraid of women. - MC that isn't one dimensional in his emotions. (Some characters are a bit one dimensional, but fit the story) - A more unique OP power set, but it has limitations so it's not too OP. - Hot elf character without her having to be obscenely obvious. - A special monster ally. - Decent story and character development, including background story. - Good artwork - VIOLENCE |

Click To View Spoiler When he barged in to the prison cell of the female human general, I had the impression that she saw or detected that something was off kilter (in his eyes, at least) - so maybe somehow she has been tipped off that there's a human underneath all that 'costume'. Seems like a risky move on his part to 'visit' her prison cell while dispatching all of those guards, simply to try and determine whether she had been the one who sent an undercover assassin after him, or whether instead there was treachery afoot within his own camp. He does not seem to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, after all - rather he seems to be bumbling from one potential crisis to the next and the next... |

Everyone laughed at the guy and shunned him, they were transported in on a bus, he was cast out by the goddess, in one the guy killed people by just telling them to die, in the other he ended up being powerful enough to erase demon hoards by “purification” spell and created a whole nation in another dimension next to the one he was isekai’d into. |
