I used to know a guy who breed ostriches. One day he got cornered while cleaning the pen, after his hen had laid some eggs.

Anyway, he ended up in the hospital for a few weeks. He was lucky he lived through it. Worst part was, he had to kill his hen with a shovel to survive.

An ostrich head-butted me off a riding mower. I had no idea the neighbor even HAD an ostrich. Ostrich was like, "Surprise ostrich attack, motherfucker!"

I didn't shoot it but it was a near thing.

I've got a theory that if chickens were 6' tall they would have snuffed out human civilization long ago. The way they go after meat is.......impressive, and they're fast.

At a small zoo, just a few feet and a chainlink fence seperating us from a full grown bird, my friend caught its attention. He started to taunt the bird by running the length of the enclosure, back and forth. The bird starts to follow him up and down the cage. Its eyes became singularly focused and very intense. And given its height, his eyes were level to ours. It was legitimately wild.

I would not fuck with these birds.

Saw one in the wild in northern Queensland. I wouldn't mess with them. Of course, I wouldn't mess with ostriches or emus either. Any bird that is as big as you are should be seen at a distance.

I’ve noticed people that have dangerous exotic pets somehow see themselves as apart from most

They’re gifted with special animal powers
A gift from God to have that ‘whisperer’ ability

When I was a teen we partied on the weekends out at a friends house way out in the sticks. Kegs, bonfires, drunk girls doing things with each other and Emu chicken.

You're probably wondering what Emu chicken is. The neighboring property owners had an Emu ranch. Emus are surprisingly aggressive/territorial. We'd get good and drunk then climb the fence and piss of the Emus. First man back over the fence was the chicken.

We did a lot of stupid shit back then.

We had a mean old Tom that would fly at you spurs out if it cornered you by the wood shed.  It got me pretty good one day, needed 10 stitches.
