Yeah he plays the same character, but at least that character isn't "stereotypical hip cool black urban dude who's really into rap music and has no flaws and everyone loves him." Fucking Hollywood has killed black roles in an effort to never appear to offend anybody. Rarely do you get a black character that has any interesting character flaws to overcome - you know, the things that make for plot and story arcs? It's usually hip cool urban guy straight outta marketing. The only exceptions are "angry black man" like Denzel or Jackson, and that is at least more tolerable.
I miss the Thulsa Doom and Apollo Creed type characters from the 80s. Those at least had some depth. |

He was good in the Negotiator and other than the racist shit, he was funny in Die Hard 3.
Pretty bad ass as Mace Windu but got killed like a bitch. Other than that, he is a racist piece of shit known for the phrase Mother Fucker. |

Sure, he is typecasted, but he does those roles well, regardless of how I view his political opinions.
Lots of actors get typecasted because they play a certain role well. |
