My 2014 Tundra has a cd player.
I do not know if it actually works. It’s never had a cd in it. |

Just because it's streaming doesn't mean it's necessarily worse than CDs..... there are streaming formats (such as FLAC) that offer lossless, high bitrate streams.

Dealership looked at me strange once. I was buying a new car, and pointed out the spare was missing.
The Sales Manager told me I really didn't need one, because I had four brand tires that weren't going flat. When I convinced them I wasn't going to take the car without the spare, they took the spare out of another vehicle, and put it in my car. |
|
Doesn't matter if it's an antiquated form of listening to music or not, it's part of the car. They shouldn't balk at fixing it.
When I'm in the car, I mostly listen to a large MP3 library stored on a USB stick I have plugged into the car. I like that system, but apparently that's antiquated too. |

I had Sony tech support give me a song and dance about how they couldn't support a BRAND NEW CD/DVD player because the model was 10 years old. The guy said that Sony stopped making CD and DVD players because "Everyone uses streaming services now." I asked him why I could still buy a brand-new turntable for my vinyl LP records. He went blank.
I ended up exchanging the defective player for another one. Amazon return, easy-peasy. ETA like most people I know I have hundreds of audio and video CDs and DVDs. |

Does it really matter if one is better than the other? It's a 2019 oem system and he took it to a dealer. He should be able to have it serviced just like anything else.
There is actually music on CD from years ago that is not licensed on Spotify today. |

Still like to listen to my music, even the couple country stations get on my nerve when they deviate from their two genres, Country and Western. Truth, but there are areas around here with shitty radio reception, much less cell service. And even things like spotify need an internet connection if you want to listen to shit, unless you pay. I download music to my phone the old school way and listen to that sometimes as well. Not everything is connected at all times. |

Our newest truck doesn't have a cd player. Its actually annoying that it doesn't. Sure I listen to Sirius most of the time but I do have some old CDs I wouldn't mind listening to. So now when im in the mood for a specific song I have to connect Bluetooth, open.... oh wait. THERE'S NO FUCKING SERVICE in bum fk VT.
Then I go back to not listening to what I wanted to hear. |

View Quote This is what I try to emphasize with even the people I work with. No, not everyone is always internet connected. Hell, at my house right now, our ISP has been flaky and intermittent. We're in easy commuting distance to a big fucking city. And even those that can be connected don't want shit always talking. [So obsessed with whether or not you could... didn't stop to think whether or not you should.] |

My 2000 Pontiac came with a CD player from factory and my dumbass adapted and installed the factory Monsoon CD/Cassette combo so I could listen to my tapes. Also doubles as a way to hook my phone into my factory radio through the cassette deck. Kinda backwards but ah well. 2000 was a better year anyways, at least I'll be stuck in it in my car.
Now, where's my Crazy Town CD and Pearl Jam tape. |

Quoted: Just because it's streaming doesn't mean it's necessarily worse than CDs..... there are streaming formats (such as FLAC) that offer lossless, high bitrate streams. Quoted: Spotify and CD's both sample at 44.1 KHZ. How can your CD sound better? View Quote I know you are trying to sound smart by bringing up the sample rate here but... You're joking right? CDs are uncompressed digital audio. Each track is like 500-700 MB. Spotify songs are probably mid-low MP3 quality. |

My 2018 GMC Sierra has a CD player. I have never put a CD in it. I have a tin ear and can't hear the difference between a CD track and a track I have on my USB drive for the infotainment center. IIRC 2018 was the last year GM offered a CD player in the Sierras.
