I attended a lecture given by one of the last CEOs of Branniff. It was amusing to hear his justification for going to work for those clowns.

That's funny as Branniff was a case study in business school. I remember the video showed the CEO on TV begging people to fly their airlines or they'd go out of business. If you're at the point you are literally begging people it's already a wrap save yourself the embarrassment.

Circuit City and Radio Shack.

I don't even know if there are any brick and mortar places that still sell electronic components.

Locally, SCI Systems, Inc. and Intergraph Corporation. Both founded here in the 60's, and each would eventually hit Fortune 500 status. At one point SCI's manufacturing division was the largest consumer of IC's in the world. Intergraph owned the CAD industry in the 80's and early 90's.

There are a shit-ton of smaller regional "feeder" airlines that have disappeared during the post-deregulation consolidation.  Ones like Allegheny, Ozark, Western, Piedmont, etc.

Shit there are a crap-ton of auto manufacturers that disappeared (mostly before WW2.)

Studebaker was the second to the last to cease to exist in 1964, and AMC disappeared when it was bought by Chrysler in 1988.

J.C. Higgins was a brand that was part of Sears marketing.   That also included the following other brands:

Craftsman
Kenmore
Ted Williams
Homemart
Allstate

Obviously, some of these brands are defunct, but others were sold off and still exist (Allstate and Craftsman, for examples)
