One guy would have a 1911, and another guy would have a Model 29, etc. It seems unlikely that they did not take their sidearms with them when they went to Afghanistan. If I hade gone, I would have taken my Speed Six .357 magnum. Or I would have bought a stainless Beretta, but I would have taken a sidearm. |

CD,
Since the 17s aren’t program of record and in one of your posts you mention that they were already down range. Do any of these pistols come without the usual “Glock Smyrna, GA.” import marks on the frame? In other words, do any of these pistols get shipped directly from Glock Ges.m.b.H to the intended theater of operations. |

Both are present in the system, all depending on when they were sourced, exactly what models they are, what contract they were obtained under, and what the desired end use was. Anything DOD is using for any DOD stuff that has any business being discussed on an internet forum would still be subject to any marking/serialization requirements as any other similar firearm being made in that country. Anything that is other than open source is anybody's guess and I would imagine neither CD nor Gaston Glock himself would/could confirm nor deny any information at all. |

It’s interesting that they have 17’s. It was my understanding that SOCOM was able to get 19’s based on a compact size requirement and that a full-size wasn’t doable because there are other full-size handguns in the system.
