Duck Plate installed

Gonna go zero it sometime this week. Also need to measure for BUIS. FCD has the Tangodown/Truglo BUIS, but they are U notch rears and I despise tritium.

Who will cut a 1911 for a 507K?  I'm looking for someone that does recoil posts and won't keep my slide for nearly a year.

After playing with closed emitters, it's nice never having to clean it for daily carry. I know people will say I'm lazy and what not but damn is it convenient not having an open cup catching all your dead skin and lint.

Palmetto Leather makes leather AIWB holsters with optic cuts if you want to try leather. For me it is more comfortable, but I am fan of leather over kydex for everything.

It's easier to find on their website by searching the model 1911, Glock 19, etc. in the search bar or whatever gun you're looking for

Still relatively new to using red dots but using them about 90% of the time this past year.

Some of my night toys and my EDC.

I have a feeling I’ll end up with optics on all my pistols as time goes on.  Thinking I’ll send my Gen 4 G19 out to be milled for an RMR next.

As an old fart (69 later this year), I've begun my move to RDSs on my pistols in the past year.
I've went from none one year ago to soon to be three.  P80 compact with Holosun 507C ACSS <---, Hellcat OSP with Holosun 507K, and having a G26 slide milled for an RMRcc right now.
I'm still really comfortable using irons but I think RDSs are where I need to be now.
The only issue on putting RDSs on my other handguns would be obsoleting all the holsters I have for them.

I’ll ask the question again here..

The RMR RM06 Type 2 has been out for ages now - I need another one. Do y’all know if Trij is planning on releasing a refresh, or Type 3 soon? Any rumors?

I don’t want to buy another Type 2 and have them release something new/better in a month.

I don't think so.

I'd think of it this way - would you rather have the tried and true or the new and unproven.

Even if a type 3 came out I'd wait a year before I got one. I had to send back two type 2 in the early serial range.

Thanks - yeah thought about that too. I bought 3 SROs when they first came out and all 3 have been flawless though. Who knows - crapshoot.

I think I’ll just order the RMR.

Next question..

Anybody have a tried and true method of cleaning off the caked-on powder off the lenses?

I try to clean my pistol optics immediately but sometimes don’t get to it.

Wondering if anybody has a better solution than my current method..

Probably doesn't help but that's one reason I mount RMR behind the rear irons. Puts lens further from the ejection port and the irons are a partial wall to block lube/carbon.  I've never had any carbon on my lenses even after thousands of rounds.

Once you get it clean, dab a bit of lube on your finger tip and swipe the lens before a long shooting session. Carbon will wipe right off. I do this to my weapon lights.

Rubbing alcohol will work if you let it sit a few minutes.  Not sure if that will harm the RMR coating.

Don’t do this based on what I say but do your own research or maybe call the manufacturer to see what they recommend as far as chemicals.

I use simple green to clean several of my lights. I’m sure it would work on the optics glass but not sure if it would do anything to the seals or emitter.
MrGunsNGear was the guy who recommended simple green in his videos.

I just use water and a Qtip to clean my lenses after a shooting session, although I just get lube spatter and not carbon residue.

Lol.....the marksman bbl was for police to better identify which bullet came from which gun.  Polygonal rifling is notorious for being difficult to match.  From the FBI bid I believe. Glock spun it as an improvement.

I'm going to bench that Gen 5 again with some other ammo and see how it does but I'm tempted to throw a KkM barrel in there.

For 1911’s I found Buhler to be quick and good. Machined my champion for a chambers plate and turnaround was QUICK. Dropped my slide in the mail one day, 10 days later it’s back in my hands. Plus Heidi at Chambers is great to work with. Both places stay on top of their email and respond ASAP.

I wouldn’t hesitate to use both again.

Anyone else having this issue?

I have 3 guns with red dots.
G17 MOS with RM06
G19 MOS with RM06
365XL with a 507Kx2
Both Glocks are using the Forward Controls mounting plate.

All three optics are zeroed at 15 yards and hitting a 3” circle target consistently.

My iron sights are also zeroed and have also been measured with my caliper from left and right sides in relation to the slide.

I KNOW THAT EACH SIGHT IS USED INDEPENDENTLY FROM THE OTHER AND SIGHTED AS SUCH.

My issue is more of a visual, when my iron sights are lined up I notice my red dot is significantly to the left or right in relation to the irons as you can see in the pictures.

I’m wondering if it’s just the mounting plates plus the red dots that are slightly misaligned on the slide compared to the irons causing the dot to be shifted.

Again, the red dots and the iron sights are all sighted in independently and are accurate but this is a visual thing that bugs me.

If both RDS and irons are zeroed and POA=POI, then it's not an issue. None of my RDS guns line up perfectly with the dot right on top of irons. You shouldn't even notice the irons while shooting the dot.

Generally the RDS and the irons don’t line up perfectly. Irons are mechanically centered but that doesn’t always equate to absolute perfect POA/POI.

Most pistol shooters don’t have good enough fundamentals to recognize that their sights are slightly off.

Just like on an M4 a perfectly centered windage and flush front sight post doesn’t make for a perfect zero.

The good news is your marksmanship fundamentals are solid enough to recognize the margin of error in the gun’s fixed sights.

Not really.  I can’t shoot good enough to tell a difference on the newer guns, some of the older Gen3s I had showed improvement.

Glock 19.5 with factory beaver tali and Trijicon RMR cc. All stock. Great trigger, fantastic SUPER accuracy. Easy to hold and shoot. Perfect size dot. I can dail the brightness down to pin point accuracy.
I highly recommend this set up. With a little practice, the 19.5 glock will make you look like a "stand out"marksman at the range when shooting steel plates. I also have a Glock 19.5 with iron sights...it to is very accurate.

Seems like the “-“ on my 18 month old 507k is dead. Can make it brighter but not dimmer. Can’t turn it off (needs both buttons). Removing the battery starts it on low but didn’t help the button.

Thoughts?

I just got back a G26 slide from my LGS after having them mill it for an RMRcc.  They acted almost like it was sacrilegious to put the RMRcc on a double stack slide.  I think he told me three times (or more) "you know, that's designed for slim single stacks."
Yes, I understand that.
But personally, I think it's a better fit on the double stack slide than the RMR.  I'd rather it sit within the confines of the slide instead of hanging over slightly.

I kept looking at the RMRcc plate and thought, who makes that RMRcc plate, we have competent competition!  The I realized it's ours

I like RMRcc on my G19 for the same reason.  For its slimmer width, you get a smaller sight window, but training will take care of that.

You can tell the LGS employee, you know, RMR wasn't designed for pistols.  Type II has the modifications necessary for it to fill such a role much better, but the original wasn't made for that purpose.  Had folks not been capable of out of the box thinking, red dot on pistols wouldn't be a thing.
