He's well, but FW_wife didn't bring him on this trip.  A weekend away from the kids.

At Belton.  Anyone here, in Waco, or Gatesville?

Wow.  Belton is close to Market Hall's current size.  Packed.

Fewer guns, more knives and geegaws than Market Hall.  Good show for SMLEs though.

Gatesville show was as small as the one I went to in E Texas a month ago in Bonham.  The dealers there said they had a good show.

9-10 March

Canton
Fort Worth - lunch?

Belton was one of the better smaller shows.  And Gatesville was better than Bonham.

I might be able to go to the Fort Worth show on Saturday.

I'd vote Flying Fish or the Turkish joint or ?
Not much of a fan of Railhead.

I married FW_wife so I could eat @ the Railhead.

There is a Turkish joint down the street from King Tut, but I've not eaten there yet.  Flying Carpet, maybe, a few blocks east.  I'm not much of a fish eater.

Flying Carpet is good. Opa's on W 7th is really good as well for Mediterranean food.

For Bbq, Angelo's is great.

I like the FW shows but the parking fee and door admission make it a $20 trip so I've usually been skipping it since I see the same stuff everywhere else too.

Besides, Market Hall is next weekend and it's 100% free for me since I help friends with their operation and parking is free for everyone.

The smaller FW shows like this usually have free remote parking.  Will post up tomorrow.  I usually park close to the gardens.

They should.  Rev Ron will be at this one, I think.  He doesn't do Premier anymore.

While it's sad to see Market Hall getting smaller and smaller show after show, we were able to find some deals for my dad on some P&R S&W wheelguns he was on the prowl for.

I picked up a Spyderco knife and probably would've jumped on a gun deal or two if I had any gun money or trading fodder with me.

Waxahachie was crowded and it looked like every table had the same stuff.  At least three jerky tables.  And, morbidly obese "comfort/service" animals.

DACA has a new Show Chairman, I was talking with him today. He seems to really want to make changes, and bring the show back to hopefully near its former glory. We will see.

They do plan on making a full scale Gun/Knife/Military show in January with heavy emphasis on military stuff, they want to have 500 tables of just military stuff, and he is having a bunch of guys bringing military vehicles, half-track and tanks included...

He seems sincere, and dedicated, and understands the issues....

The door was shit today, that was super disappointing...

Still managed to pick up some cool shit...

This was a big deal at the shows at the Convention Center in Dallas in the '80s and early '90s.  I would love to see this make a comeback.

I've been going to gun shows at Market Hall since the early '80s and that had to have been the smallest, saddest show I have ever seen there. The overhang area was closed and they had tables in about 2/3 of the main hall with quite a few empty tables. I picked up a nylon holster for the truck gun and that was about it. Model One had some retro triangular handguard uppers for sale but no one was around to give me a price.
I think I'll sit it out until the military show in January.

Well, it wasn't good. door sucked, the "crowd" yesterday was pathetic, didn't sell much....this was a rare case of Sunday being better than Saturday. It helped I sold my sealed tin of 5.45x39...

The show sucked as far as people and customers....but as always managed to buy some good stuff...found a complete M49A1 trip flare, a Vietnam vintage Red Star ground signal, a few rarer and not so rare cartridge cases and rounds from Bob M, a set of Russian 1941 made 6x30 binocs, a nice, complete German gas mask can with all straps and mask and extra's, and my son was thrilled with a bunch of new Lego soldiers...and I might have got a few too...

I am going next week to sign up for the next Mesquite Bigtown show....I can't depend on the DACA show to really make any scratch...

13-14 April

Mesquite Big Town (Premier)
Sulphur Springs

NOON Saturday, Soulman's BBQ 1125 Gross Rd, Mesquite, TX 75149

Alas, like many of the upcoming shows, I will not be able to join you.  Eat a BBQ sandwich and buy jerky and weird magazines in my honor.

20-21 April

Belton - really enjoyed this show at the beginning of March.  I recommend it.

27-28 April

Fort Worth (Premier) - y'all post up where you want to meet for lunch
Tyler - this is a good mid-tier show, if you can't make Fort Worth.

4-5 May

Henderson
Lewisville - small, but decent prices, free parking, see my recent post on what I picked up & pricing.

11-12 May

Bastrop (Premier) - don't normally cover this far south, but it's the only one in the state advertised for this weekend.  Bastrop's a cool little town, glad they're taking the money since Austin went full retard.

18-19 May
Abilene
Belton - this is a good mid-tier show.
Mesquite Big Town (Premier)

25-26 May
Dallas Market Hall - not as big as it once was, but free parking and a great place to find older arms and militaria

Check the old $300 thread.  Home Depot or Lowes has em as well, maybe.

GWACS should.
