So what did you get in your grab bag from cmmg? Thier bargain bin sounds like a great deal. What brand lowers did you get and what kind of flaws did you notice?
I'm considering one of these too.
I can get a whole rifle cheaper than the upper I''m looking at. |
I have seen many of them at our local shows....................I would buy one instantly if I had the money. Some are rougher than others but all will finction just fine. I would pay the extra for the select grade tho.
Just order two, will post pics when they come in.
edit: eta: should be here Tuesday |
just picked mine up last week.could not be more pleased.
FFL just got mine in. One is DPMS lower, other is Double Star. Both looks brand new. Not a mark on them. I didn't think they would be this nice, I am speechless.
Thanks CMMG. My 1st order, and not my last. |
Are the upper and lower a pretty tight fit? |
Mine is a DPMS lower, and the fit is not as good as some rock rivers I have handled, but not too bad at all.

Looks just like the OP. |

...and they're 1/7s. Oh, how dare they?!?!?!?! |
Time to testify... heavy It indeed has the longer round handguards (which could be replaced with the older triangular guards). My FFL honestly thought it was a new rifle and was surprised when I told him it was used. After field-stripping, I observed no obvious dings or gouges.
I may get a chance to go to the range on Friday to break it in. If so, I'll provide a quick-and-dirty report. All in all, I'm a happy panda! |
I just returned from the range and cleaned my 20" HBAR rifle after 150 break-in rounds. Shooting off-hand with iron backup sights, I managed some damn accurate shooting with no FTFs or FTEs. highly
Mine was a double star lower. Nice tight fit with the upper, no play at all. The FFL and I could'nt find a blemish on it, other than just a small spot on one of the front site leafs, but just barely. This is a "hand select" m4. Very pleased with the rifle, only thing is I forgot to order a BUIS. If you sitting on the fence. Jump on it, before they are all gone.
the rifles come with the upper and lower packed seperately in a box.
About how long did it take everyone to recieve their bargin bin rifles?
I ordered mine last week it and still hasn't reached my FFL. I know it's only been a week, but I'm getting antsy. hy.gif haha |
Well it looks like I got antsy for nothing. hoseIt got dark on me before I could get it home and clean it up so I haven't shot it yet. Gotta clean the barrel out tonight. Don't know if it's just oil or cosmoline. I'll try and put a few rounds through it tomorrow after work. Can't promise any accuracy reports though without a rear sight or scope. A2 Carry Handle has been ordered. Here's a few quick pics. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e61/NCarolina910/Guns-December001.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e61/NCarolina910/Guns-December002.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e61/NCarolina910/Guns-December003.jpg |

Hopefully you guys can answer a few of my questions.
1) Are the buffer tubes Mil-Spec? 2) Are the barrels CMMG? Thanks in advance. |
Buffer tubes are not mil spec and barrels are not CMMG.

I finally was able to pick my 20" hand select up @ the FFL(12-16). They said it would be 5+ day wait on shipping when I ordered (11-16), but I had a tracking # in 5 hrs. My FFL and I gave it a look over and couldn't find anything wrong w/ it. Looks like it was test fired only. DPMS lower, , no idea on the upper, fits well, has the best trigger I have ever tried for an off the rack AR, and barrel was marked as a CMMG 1/7. I thought they were all 1/9's. Not that I am complaining, 1/7 is great w/ me. Anyone else get a 1/7, or do I win some kind of prize for getting the only 1/7 in the "bargain barrel"?
IF I didn't spend so much cash on the 12 day sale over to ArmaLite I would grab another. Thanks for the deal, FB |
That's certainly an added bonus!!!!!! Is it an HBAR or Gov't profile under the handguards? Congrats to you. Scott |
wondering this as well |
Do they have any bargain bin rifles left? I'm looking to buy a couple myself.
cmmginc.secure-mall.com/shop/?shop=1&cart=907336&cat=33& YES, but only in the 14.7", 16", 18", & 20" varities FB |

Oh, I'm so on the fence about just ordering a bargain midlength 1:7 chrome...is there any chance this would end up being an HBAR? Doesn't seem likely it would be a carbine gas with mid-length handguards, due to the extra cost of the gas block? I wouldn't mind a LW or gov't, but if it turned out heavier, I'd be disappointed (double that if it's carbine gas). Thinking through the manufacturers this could be if it's NOT CMMG...SDI: unlikely. Armalite? Bushy? I guess it's possible. My money says it's probably gonna be a CMMG; please help me think through the profile question. (Also, I didn't see anything to click for hand-select...)
I just got caught up on the info from EE...mid-length is reportedly gov't profile.
Just got back from filling out my paperwork at the FFL. He was almost as excited to see what was in the box as I was. The lower was CMMG. We stripped the rifle and thoroughly examined it for any signs of wear. It looked brand new. Needless to say I am very pleased. I ordered on December 27th and it arrived January 11th. With the new years holiday, this seems pretty reasonable Now I've got to "cool off" for 7 days before I can pick it up. |
Mine's still working great, no failures of any kind that weren't due to mags.
I still can't help but wonder where they got the parts to offer the rifles at this price. Surely not BT/Hesse/Vulcan? |
Got mine out to the range today and got it sighted in with no problems. I'm a happy customer and have sent a few others towards CMMG's bargin bin rifles. My police department just went to patrol rifles and for individual officers to train with these are a great price. So far my department does not allow personal rifles on duty but I would have no hesitations carrying mine if I could.
Thanks Travis |
Just picked up mine today. Its an 18inch with the A2 stock and has a CMMG lower. FFL took it all apart and doesn't look to be fired at all. No signs at all. Great deal
Is that one chromed lined? |
The ones for $570.00 are not chrome lined. "A3 flat top rifle configurations are currently 16" 1/9 M4s, 1/9 16" HBARs and 1/9 20" HBARs and are not chrome lined. The 16" carbines come with 4 position stocks and the 18" and 20" rifles comes with an new A1 stock. Hand select only pertains to external condition, not make." |

Has everyones rifles came with flash hiders? I was considering the 18" model. What's the scoop on these?
ETA: I guess I'll find out for myself, just ordered an 18" and 16"m4. Didn't need them but man this is just to cheap. |
I shot my M4 today (DPMS lower) with a Matech rear BUIS. I shot 5 rds at 50yds and they were all in .5" circle about 1.5" low made some adjustments and shot 10 more rounds. Everything seemed to be right on. I shot 5 rds at 100yds and everything was just under MOA. I am very impressed with my bargin bin. I have an Aimpoint but didn't shoot with that on today. Right now i am torn between buying a Bull Barrelled upper or another bargin bin.
Great rifle CMMG!! Thanks Matt |
Did you get the 14.7" or the 16"?
They just pulled the 14.7" chrome bores and added the 16" instead, I ordered when they were 14.7" but am now confused as to what I'm going to get. Edited to add: They clarified I'm getting one of the last 14.7"s - sweet. |
Here's my attempt to define it; ignore anything I say which is in contradiction to CMMG themselves.
I've seen NO negative reviews. go to cmmg's website, then bargain bin. They are reportedly not used or resale, neither are they warrantied. Sometimes seen at gun shows muzzle down in a plastic barrel. mixed lowers: DPMS, cmmg, doublestar (?)... I haven't gotten a feel from reviews whether they're Cerro uppers or otherwise. Barrel manufacturer also may be mixed, who knows? You might even get a CMMG, then again it may be Wilson (?) Lots of questions as part of the bargain price. If you shop around and don't mind pushing pins, you will get a more predictable build--including warranted parts of your choosing--and you may be able to keep at a similar price as well. |
