I sure hope so. Minor issues aside, the groupings I got out of my barrel are such that I'd almost be hesitant to post them online

I put in my spare, which has been used and is verified good to go. Probably won't make it to the range today. Try a normal milspec weight buffer spring. I 'think' the S42 spring is about 15% extra weight, that combined with loose gas block could cause your problems. Anecdotal, I had a 14.5 colt socom that I put a G gas block on and abused that barrel a long time. When I went to pull the barrel, the gas block screws were loose and the only thing holding the block to the barrel was carbon. Pulled the block off with my hands. Rifle ran the entire time with zero gas issues. |

Not trying to be obtuse , but can someone explain the thought process behind the thread pitch (5/8 x24) vs what seems to be what seems to be an industry standard (at least on my ARs ) 1/2 x 28? I see some proof barrels with this thread pitch but DD, white oak and many others have the 1/2 x28. Did the original spr barrels have the 5/8 or is this a competition /match barrel trend ? Honestly have no idea - have to admit for my usage of 3 suppressors and muzzle devices already in my possession I would like to see this 18” SPR stainless barrel with a 1/2x28 thread pitch (unless I’m really missing something , which is possible !) |

Actually I would like to beg for more hybrid or continuous-taper barrel profiles. Anything but gov't profile. |

We believe the industry is adapting to 5/8x24 rather well and we are seeing more muzzle devices for it. MK12 clone builders are right at home with options for muzzle devices in this thread pitch. Our Super Duty displays our Geissele profile barrel which we believe sets users up for the best experience. |

Well there is a first for everything, so I guess i see the point of it. I'm on the list for a restock update so looks like ill be trying this thread pitch on this SPR barrel ! thanks all for the info |

You're right, I see that almost all of your barrels are other-than-gov't profile. I also appreciate that you publish the gas port diameter. Out of curiosity, do you know why you went with .750 gas block journals? This seems like a 1/2-28 vs 5/8-24 scenario as well. |

Just for clarification are you refering to the standard barrels or the one variant of the HBAR upper? |

The .750 journal is very easy to obtain and standardizes it for our product line. When we oringally launched HBAR we chose the .750 so users had an easier time with sourceing gas blocks. Then came the .812 purely for the performance gains. Once I hear back from Engineering we can let you know more. |

This will make it much easier for users that purchase an SPR from us. I can't say more than that right now, but stay tuned for updates! |

I've read that gas block journal diameter changes the gas flow characteristics, but I don't know how or why it could be "better". |

Geissele asked for it back to do an autopsy. They then made a custom barrel/gas block/gas tube for him to meltdown and it did amazing. People wanted it and G made it happen. |

Its a great question, Spyderboy nailed it, the bumping up to the .812 is an option due to the thickness of the barrel. Our HBAR and Super HBAR give us the option to jump up in gas journal size. This gave us a thicker gas block and ability to design a custom straight gas tube that handled the heat of the burndown at a better rate. In regards to gas flow characteristics we could talk to our engineering team! We made two videos that broke down the burn down that are also great watches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGJTWp1lOzA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lpOa3_C45A&t=3s |

Then actual testing validates the theory. I’d like to see a unique gas block set up for this. Remove the milling on the barrel and move it into the gas block. The justification is that buy maniple rotating cuts in the barrel you are adding inconsistent stress and thin spots. One method to quell this is move the flutes into the gas block. The other would be to make the gas journal thicker. Think 812 journal. Then .750 to the muzzle. (As long as the gas valleys aren’t deeper than .162) this would maintain the thickness for the length of the barrel all the way to the threaded shoulder. And that’s already thicker at 5/8x24 instead of 1/2x28. Sorry. My mind gets going on an idea. Had another one with gas delay and sent the idea to bill a while ago but I don’t think he was interested. I’m just a dumb guy without any training that likes to look at things and say… “what if???” |

What chamber are you all using. The website has .223/5.56 which would lead me to believe it’s a wylde. I’d love to see a CLE chamber version even though I doubt that will happen. |

I have purchased several of your products including the 18” SPR, and use other products of yours professionally. I do like the idea of 5/8x24, one thing to keep in mind for some folks is that you are alienating RC2 owners - and by extension many mil/leo customers. 5/8x24 surefire muzzle devices are incompatible on RC2 and similar 556 cans due to surefires design. It might be a niche concern for now, but still a concern. Having a thread pitch option would be nice for this and the .812 hbar barrels/uppers. |

In terms of the chamber we would love to talk to our barrels departement and our Engineers. We have been infomred that it is perfectly safe to shoot both 5.56 and .223 through the chamber. Once we get more information on the chamber specs we will let you know! |

UPDATE: So we spoke with our barrels and engineering departments. We developed a proprietary chamber optimized for 77 grain projectiles and is closer to .223 which is why we chose to stamp it .223 rather than our traditional 5.56. We unfortunately cannot go into the chamber specifications themselves since they are trade secrets, but the accuracy that these SPR barrels are producing are speaking for themselves. |

How can they produce any level of accuracy if they are not customers' hands due them being OOS? I might just be letting my fudd out in anticipation of the restock while my crossing fingers it is before 5/31. If not, I'll wait until you bring the 16" to market. I don't think I can do my Mod H dirty. |

Yeah, you're not kidding about that. I've had very good luck with the new BH 77 OTM's. Going to try some Atlanta Elite 77 next outing as that has almost always been the most accurate 77 for me. BH however is what I use for work. |

I finally got my scope in, so I can start the journey with this barrel: Setup: SPR barrel, G gas block, mk4 rail, REBCG, rifle length recoil system. Energetic Armament Ferox 5.56 w / ASR. Nightforce ATACR 4-16 tremor 3 in a G mount. The joy of having a 3 year old is very abbreviated range sessions, so I had time to zero the optic and shoot a couple preliminary groups. The gassing is incredible. 3:30 ejection suppressed. Extremely smooth recoil.Attached File I started with Hornady TAP T2 75 gr: Attached File The highest shot was a called flyer; even so, very workable. Next shot the local brew 85 gr: Attached File Pretty uninspiring, but in line with spyderboy03s Then the Black Hills 77 Attached File I was shooting through mirage by this point, but the first five went through the .37” hole I am excited to do more work with the black hills mk262…it looks like the answer |

SPR barrel today, which by the way, ran flawlessly... Attached File 9 shot group since thats what was in the magazine. The 9th shot was my last shot. I came off the rifle for some unknown reason, and was in the process sinking into the rear bag.....and did so while resting on the second stage. Sent it early. I can't even call it a flyer, because it wasn't. The round went where the rifle was pointed, and I sent it prematurely . My wife complains of that about 1/9 times as well, so I know its me ![]() ![]() Regardless, this is the most precise 556 gasser barrel I've ever had. Removing the 9th round and thats 3/4 if not even a little tighter. Moved up one click and called it a day. Ammo was black hills 77OTM (new stuff with the hornady 77) 556 traveling 2740 FPS. Atlas PSR front bipod, bagged rear, prone @100y. |

Our apologies for any confusion. We had a plan to relaunch the barrels, but we are working hard to add some extra value to them at no cost to you! It is just taking a little extra time. Once we have an ETA we will be sure to let you know. Keep an eye on your email inbox! |

With the phased array system we found that having one without the bombproof drilled just made life a little easier on the builder. That is great to hear that Preston got his hands on the barrel. Did he happen to provide any feedback? |
