I bought one yesterday (27 FEB) NIB 6940 fresh from COLT factory for $2K shipped from a dealer that advertised it online.
Another online dealer had one 6940 listed for $2,500. It should be at my local FFL dealer mid week. I don't see the prices falling below $2K considering the 6920s are selling for $1800 and up by dealers, especially in Tampa. I'll follow up with observations, but I'm sure it will be drenched in Colt placenta / oil

It just seems too good, with too thin proof for me to get my hopes up yet. |

| To each his own. To me it doesn't make sense for them to make LE6940's with .154 pins and keep all the other models at .170. I expect to see all receivers with .154pins eventually and hopefully soon. |

Honestly, I dont care if the 6940 and every gun after has .250 trigger pins. I will stil buy them, and still know I have the best gun made. period. Pin size to me is as much a waste of time as the fit and finish BS. Sure it would be nice. but I dont lose sleep or start threads over it or pollute 20 other threads on the subject. No matter what size, they will still be made to top quality. I guess I am in a minority though

I guess I am in a minority though I think the Colt purists would agree with you on this one (I know I do), but that doesn't mean we wouldn't want to see .154 mil-spec pins... I know if I had my choice I would have Colt make all my guns with spec pins. Now if they decide to make them with .999 pins instead, I'll still buy them because as you said, they are the best. That is a fact by the way!

Glen told me Colt is running about 45 days on average. I've ordered a few rifles for officers through Phoenix, 6920's and now 6940's. The first batch of 6920's took about 2 months. The second group
buy of 6920's were right about 45 days. The third group buy, 6940's, are only at three weeks so we will see how quick they come in. |

A heads-up: I just purchased a 6940 from Vance's Shooters Supply in Columbus, Ohio for $1749. They said they had one more in the back. I believe they're closed Sunday and Monday but call to be sure. Post here if you're able to pick it up.
No pics yet... It's still in my trunk.

Been playin' around with this thing a bit... Am I missing a push-button on the Matech BUIS or is it just manually flipped up?
Re: the front site... while it has no hard "click" going to either position it definitely has a detent in there that provides a solid lock up and down. I wouldn't worry about it falling by any means. In fact its pretty tough to manipulate either way. The stock body is a little looser on the tube than I like and there's a bit more flashing on the receiver around the trigger than my previous Colts. The monolithic rail is rock solid. I'd love to see one of these with a 10.5" barrel.... possibly even with the standard A2 front sight set-up. Does the 6940 accept standard barrels? I'm thinking about SBR'ing it and putting on an LMT or similar short barrel. We shall see.........

[ETA] Yes, it uses standard barrels. It has just come to my attention that they are not actually "standard barrels". The barrel extension is a little bit different than a normal one. So don't plan on buying a 6940, taking the barrel off and putting a 6933 barrel on it (like I was planning to do.)  Of course there technically isn't a tool out from Colt "yet" that will allow you to take the barrel off, but I'm sure you could figure out a way to loosen the nut.

Mine finally showed up today! Not that it really matters much to me as it won't affect accuracy, but the fit between the upper and lower is the loosest out of my six Colt rifles...nothing an Accu-Wedge won't fix. Already have MagPul rail panels and a MIAD for it...just need to find a MilSpec CTR! Not sure if I'll keep the rear sight or replace with a Troy!?
