Are the 10.5 uppers going to be offered without the kit?

So....Just to know 100%..... ANY AR15 parts kit/enhanced parts/trigger kit will work in the lower and have about 3 parts left over, correct? Geissele, BCM, etc., no problem? Anyone try an enhanced trigger setup yet?

I've been tempted to purchase the KS47 lower many times, especially at the Black Friday sale price but I'm not going to buy a complete upper from them. I want to build my upper the way I want to build it.
Why hasn't PSA begun selling the upper to match this lower? I'm sure I missed the answer ten pages ago but I feel PSA has lost a ton of orders for not following up with their uppers. |

I have not had a problem with any mag (except tapco mags) since the minor machining of the bolt that I mentioned a few pages back in this thread. This includes using the mag as a rest or uni-pod. I have been confident in my KS47 ever since! |

I simply removed the bolt from the BCG and milled off the bottom corners of the 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock bolt lugs that were making contact with the magazine feed lips. The 4 o'clock lug needed a bit more material removed than the 8 o'clock lug as it was shaving down the left feed lip more than the right on my pmags. My 4 o'clock bolt lug is now more of a triangle shape than rectangle. Hope this help! |

After dragging my feet for a long time, I finally jumped into the pool myself... could resist the discounted/free shipping deal last week.
I have a lower on its way to my FFL and an upper on its way to my house. Interested in seeing how this thing plays out. |

@Tactician73 Well actually I had a local gun smith take care of the issue. He used a propane torch to heat it to almost cherry red and then took a wrench to it. Even then it looked like it was about to take his vice with it.

Wow, that's crazy it required that much heat.. Thanks for the info. I'm wondering if anybody else experienced that same issue? BTW what kit version did you purchase?

The MOE 13" M-LOK light weight rifle kit with the heavy barrel.
Again other than that fiasco, I love how the rifle shoots and it has been issue free with my surplus Polish mags. |

I know your not a fan of pics but could you post one anyway to make sure I'm doing this correctly. I'm about to send this junk back if I can't get it to function correctly. I run and gun with my rifles. I shoot prone and around object which in return means the mag could rest on something or bump another object. It's absolutely crazy to own a gun that jams or has the bold get stuck when you place pressure on the mag. I own 11 other ar15 and have shot them for personal and military scenarios and never once have I had an issue with a magazine not feeding bc it was bumped. I like psa but it is not an acceptable excuse for them to tell us a magazine is not designed as a rest or grip. I under stand that but for the ones who use thier guns for more than bench shooting it really messes with preformance.
I just ordered this gun and got it in Thursday. I was super stoked about shooting it only to find out it jammed on it on almost every obstacle I tried to run it through. My buddy has the mutant and has never had this issue. I have used psa in the past and would rather keep business with them but if this can't be corrected then I don't want this gun. I will go to a mutant and call it a day. I'll be reaching out to psa on Monday to see if there is anything that can be done about this issue. If not I'll ask for a refund. I didn't buy this gun to bench shoot. I bought this to hunt, and run courses with it. It functions fine while standing up and nothing hitting the mag but that's not acceptable to me. If I can shave a little off the bolt and have it function then I'll go that route. |
|
|
mbelcher1404 what brand or type of mag are you running? I have had great luck with polish surplus and others are having good luck with the PMAGS.
|
|
|
I'm using p mags and also some type of steel mags I have left over from my ak a few years ago. I'm not sure of the brand.
I shaved and sanded the p mags. It cycles flawless unless you put pressure on the mags. This could be my favorite gun, even more so than me BCM and noveske guns. I really really enjoy the x39 but this is crazy |

I've got a KS-47 as well, but haven't had a chance to get out with it yet. After reading the trouble some are having with mags, I've picked up a few different brands to try out and so far the ones that fit the best and look like they'll be the best as far as the bolt not dragging on the feed lips are the Bugarian polymer (with steel reinforced lips) and the CAA 30 round (CAA mags @ PSA. The Bulgarian mags have a slight drag, but the CAA mag actually has no drag at all on the feed lips by the bolt, even when resting the gun on the mag. The CAA mag fits snug in the magwell with absolutely no wiggle to it. Again, this is all dry fire evaluation, but it may be something worth trying.
When I do finally get out, I'll report back. I'll be using Tapco, Bulgarian polymer (30 & 40 round), Magpul Pmag gen 2 and CAA mags for comparison. |

(The CAA mag fits snug in the magwell with absolutely no wiggle to it. Again, this is all dry fire evaluation, but it may be something worth trying. ) @Loclass, thanks for info on CAA mags. I'll wait for your range report before i purchase some. |

I'm new here, but read everything I could find on the KS47, before posting. Just built up my KS47 lower after buying the kit on Black Friday. I have built multiple standard AR lowers before but never had left over parts...but I have a small set screw and a roll pin that is approximately 5/8" long that I just cannot figure out where they go. The lower functions properly, the upper came completely assembled. Any idea where these parts go? I looked online for assembly instructions with no luck, so I just assembled like I would any standard lower (without the mag release and bolt catch). TIA

What lead to the 16" carbine gassed Classic rifle kit going on closeout for $300 shipped? I don't think I'd seen that one before, usually the carbine gassed uppers have been heavy barrel. That's probably the cheapest AR rifle kit I've ever seen... almost wish I'd picked up more, to flip. OOS now though.

I really wanted the mid-length but it went OOS last week. Any reason why it was marked as "clearance"? |

Does the basic AR-15 rule apply? Meaning does the longer gas system somewhat soften the felt recoil pulse on the KS47? On the same line, I wonder what putting an A2 tube, buffer, and spring would do to how the gun feels...

I don't see why it wouldn't, but 7.62x39 has less chamber capacity vs bore so it generally needs a shorter gas system than 5.56.
Somewhere in between carbine and A2 would be the VLTOR A5 setup, they have some very heavy buffers available for it but it doesn't make the gun as much longer as a rifle tube. I'm really curious as to quality of these Classic kits. I too would've preferred midlength, kinda kicked myself for not ordering it at $400 shipped on Black Friday, but this one isn't the same kit as the carbine kits that I've seen before. I prefer a medium profile barrel to a heavy barrel on a gun like this. |

Notice how they've been machined or ground down so they slip over the feed lips. This is exactly where the bolt hangs up on the mags. I contemplated doing the same to mine, but I want to get some rounds through it before I start removing metal. This mod should eliminate the issue.....nice work. |

Does the KS-47 require the hybrid bolt carrier group or can any 7.62X39 BCG work?
So, if I understand this correctly, the bolt carrier is cut to accept AK mags in the KS47 lower receiver. A regular 7.62X39 BCG would be used in a rifle that uses a regular AR lower and AR style mags. |

Will any 7.62x39 barrel work with this kit. What is bolf face depth .was looking at faxon barrel and it say use only with bolt face depth of. 125
