I'll be present to NC tonight assuming there's no thunderstorm activity -- it's highly probable there will be thunderstorms, so we won't know for sure until net time.

Like most living things, you run them through a combine, it'll pretty much take care of it.

First reminder out. I have cells about 20 miles out east and west but no lightning in the immediate area.

All clear here tonight! Hopefully the laptop cooperates
Also I heard Olivia tones tuning right after the first warning, so I probably have copy on at least one person.
The band is very quiet here other than lightning crashes. |

I have lightening within five miles and passing through. I’ll have to disconnect for a while until it passes, hopefully in time for the net.
I've got a cell directly overhead but it's not active.
Copied NMBMXER as pure ghost print about 3 ago. |

My lightning detect is going of but it's showing 12 miles right now... if I get any hits closer than 3 miles
I'll have to go QRT. |

Thanks for the report Nmbmxer at least I know this cobbled together IC751 setup will transmit now

Listening since I'm not legal yet. Copied Nmbmxer and the response.
Also got GreenDragon's check in. And later BravoOtt. |

Net closed tonight at 1030 EDT with 5 stations including NCS and one SWL. Rough condx for sure.
@USMC2671 what are you using to listen and decode the net? Glad you could join us. |

View Quote Icom 7300 with a G5RV Jr antenna strung from roof peak discone mast to a tree, within the confines of a townhouse lot. Got FLDIGI set up and decoding in a few minutes last month or May and copied a partial arf net. Busy with other stuff since then. Still don't know about what other configuration I might need to do, especially for TX. GreenDragon's message was a bit of a mess and whoever was after him was a complete fail on my end. |

It took quite awhile for my report to send, I'm not surprised it was a mess.

Reminder that volunteer NC is needed this week and next due to work commitments.
I should be back for 8/4. Crazy thunderstorms here so I'd need a volunteer even if I didn't have work today. Power has been out 2 hours so far today. |

I can NCS this week if no one else wants to.
Any one want to play with FELD HELL before the net? |

Busy evening here so while I may be monitoring, I'm probably not going to be able to actively participate.
I've send a couple of warnings out, not exactly on time but they've been transmitted...
The noise here is horrific, pulsing S9+, if any one has sent a test message I've not heard/seen it. |

I copied Weaponeer1911 at -8db, no idea on signal strength due to QRM

Just looked at fldigi, copied the 2310z warning and nothing else.
edit- might have had the squelch too high to read any really weak stuff. I wasn't in front of it to tweak things. |
It sounds like hammering S9+ farts here. I hear BravoOtt by relay, no direct copy.
I leave my squelch on but on the lowest setting, still a few random characters get thru but it isn't a wall of scribble. ETA: I'm calling the net with 2 check-in's, I did get a SNR from BravoOtt, not sure he got my reply. Condx are bad even for Olivia. I'm going to play with the kids before it's too dark. 73 all. |

At least I learned it’s more likely RFI killing my touchpad rather than my laptop actually locking up. Only stuck me once on the last transmission
The rumor seems to be there's a lot of QRM from Cuba trying to block hams from communicating out of country. Looking at the SDR, there's is definitely something going on...

I was hoping to finish up early enough to run Net tonight, but I'm not going to make it. Trying to put together an excercise for another net that runs right after this one.
Ended up skipping out last night after spending 3 hours trying to get my auto tuner to work after putting a new 10-80 wire up across the property. Would kick my protection in auto mode but I could manually do it fine in test mode so I eventually just gave up, filed the return, and found something else to do to calm down.
I'll be around to NC for this wednesday's net.
The weather forecast is clear for me, so other than QRM we should be good to go. |

First reminder out @ 2302Z or so.
Due to the 12+ inches of rain I've had my ground is awesome and I'm seeing a 1:1 SWR for the first time ever. Hopefully that means the RF is going where it's supposed to. |

I'm going to try operating portable tonight. I'll be on my IC-7200 running on a 15 AHr Bioenno battery to a Chameleon MPAS 2.0 portable vertical in the backyard. I'll be limited to about 25 watts due to the Chameleon hybrid rating. Hope it works and someone can hear me.
There's usually a decent path from AZ to TX so odds are with it working out.

Whew, NMBMXER was below the noise floor here by a big margin.
ETA: I think I copied redbirdxx giving NMBMXER a signal report, but it's about 30-40% copy here and also below noise floor. Conditions are looking pretty bad. |

Well dang it. I forgot all about this, even though I can't transmit (tech) I wanted to set up and try to decode some Olivia, get familiar with it for when I upgrade. I may go out and set up anyway
edit: That is if conditions will cooperate |
Out of curiosity, is anyone else "THOR Micro" capable?

Just looked at computer. Looks like 100% from nmbmxer and about 80% from Redbird. No one else came through. I wasn't up here to get signal reports.
I can do any of the modes in FLDIGI. We could also try OL8-500 since there is a lot of QRM (or at least there is here).

I assume that we are sticking with Olivia 16/500 tonight? There was mention earlier about switching.

I have S9 noise all the way across my passband when sitting on 7114.
