I’d bet that with premium FFMM and a fully broken in barrel it will end up shooting closer to 3/4. For the price I’m very happy. Actually I say for the price, but it is already outshooting a Proof barrel in a few loads.

did you get single stage or dual stage? I dont care for the single stage it feels much heavier for me. but I much prefer 2 stage triggers over all.

Oh, speaking of Larue. I missed out on their big barrel blowout. All they have left are 16 inchers with rifle feedramps. I got a pair anyway. My old Stealth shoots excellent, and I figure these are probably from around that vintage. I started out just side loading rounds in with an M4 feedramp upper to get a feel for the barrels (I got one stealth and one predatar). They both shoot exceptional. Rather than sourcing a rifle ramp upper I just took my time and cut my own M4 feedramps with a dremel, some patience, and a steady hand. Not only are they blended great to the upper without any snag points, but I have a sub-MOA barrel I paid all of $125 bucks for. I’ve already got a third in the mail.

I used to be an absolute glass snob but I’ve been very happy with my Arkens (5-25 EP and 4-16 EPL). Especially for the price. I wouldn’t use it for anything top tier but I only have a few of those. For a nice target shooter or paper puncher I’d absolutely buy more.

I’m also on quite the Athlon kick and they generally hit about one price category above their weight so to speak. Like their “Vortex PST” price point corresponds about to a “Gen 1 Razor” in terms of what you get.

Nice looking rifle Z

Great choices. Also, Imo, the bigger scope is better for precision and hand loading your own tuned to the rifle.

Measured finely enough, it’ll matter. Which way though is anyone’s guess. It’s more a matter of harmonics than anything else. Not only that but specific torque amount will matter too. Usually lighter is better, but there’s a school of thought that there are nodes within that torque range that are more or less conducive to precision too. That Joe Carlos guy talks about when he’s setting up a rifle that he’ll use indexing shims to index it to each hour of a clock face and take groups at each interval even.

Dunno how much that really matters in the real world, but I’m sure in the strictest sense it does matter.

"It certainly was a hot load, that's for sure. Here's what the brass looked like"

It's not just the flat primers and bent rims to consider.

The other load had a few that showed some signs of ejector "swipes", that shiny spot on the headstamp.

If yours is anything like mine the 69 and 52’s may shoot significantly better. I let my friend shoot some 69’s at 600 and they were hammering the plates. The 52’s had a harder time in the wind but they were no slouch’s.

I’m probably not telling you much you don’t already know, but being button rifled I’d expect to see those groups polish up over the next few hundred rounds. Some of my best barrels were pretty mediocre when new.

Clean your bolt face after the Mk262.

Regarding brass condition, I suggest an H2 or H3 buffer.

2 white oak barreled rifles here.
You will not be disappointed. Especially if you reload. 77gr smk’s and R15 is the bees knees.

Across multiple rifles the 77 tactical Berger over Varget proved to be the most accurate. The SMK’s are close and far cheaper for bulk accuracy loads.

But also, it takes a wholeeeeeeeee lot of shots to ensure that first shot rings true.

My mentor taught me that decades ago...he called it the "money shot".

But yeah, takes a lot of practice to get there.

That barrel will tighten up just from putting some rounds down it, sometimes a good bit. Still, you may give a go at truing and bedding the receiver. Between that and modulating the barrel nut torque I’ve pretty consistently gotten my rifles to shoot tighter to varying degrees. My latest effort at that was a JP 6.5 Grendel that started out @ 1.5-2 MOA when assembled ‘correctly’ to spec. After truing the receiver face, bedding the receiver extension, and optimizing the barrel nut torque it’s down closer to .75 or 1 MOA even on a bad day.
