Super sweet young lady,  beautiful person inside and out.   Though it would seem she still gets tired of my BS trying to dial in lighting.

Not much I could do; noonday sun and I needed to get on the road.  Sunset would be MUCH better.

this is awesome.  Pretty sure me and my group used to hang out in that same spot from time to time.  It's so long ago I don't remember how we'd get down there though.

I used to also rent a carriage house on the small "island" just before the Huegenot bridge on the north side of the James, both houses were owned by the Court family at the time.  I had a lot of fun times on the James over the years.

Describe this a bit more?  Technique?

Or just pretend you're the triggered meme dude?

But, photo a day!

Walking in the big woods Friday; this is a 35+ year old plantation.  This spot has a basal area of 220 sq. ft.  That's YUGE!  Diameters running 15-21", heights pushing 90- feet.

And mostly wide open understory!  Gravy!

ETA, I gotta say, do they really need all those bridges?  Union jobs?  Political cronyism?  And don’t even get me started on the tunnels.

But they do make for good photography.

With all the talk about the Super Armadillo Blood Blue Supermoon in the media, I thought it sad for there to be little mention of the Moon passing by Saturn last night.

My longest lens is a 400, so this is all I could get.  The dimensions of this crop are still a respectable 2160x2160, but I just couldn't get sharper focus on Saturn.

Three frames.  One for the moon, one for the atmospheric glow and background stars, and third frame to keep Saturn from being too overexposed...

That looks good.  A nice departure from what we'd normally get from a computational photo.

What editing tools did you use?  And was your starting point a raw file?

Do you ever find/run into any tasty legacy apple trees?  Odd question,  but I am an apple pie fan and there are dozens or hundreds of breeds of apples no longer generally available.

Maybe, from time to time.

Thing is, I’m not usually looking for them.

But for you, I’ll start!!

ETA I'm more likely to find old tobacco barns...

It’s not as impressive as it looks lol

There were two arctic foxes in captivity. They were rescued but I don’t remember why

Awww…

It sure looks like you spent 12 days hiking into a remote alpine highland, perhaps somewhere in the Denali, strategically placed a cam trap, and visited it rigorously over a 42 day time period to have ONLY that image on the memory card.

Then on the way out, you had to square off against a grizzly who smelled the last morsel of hard tack in your bag, but you fought him off, bare handed, and finally reached the trailhead, where you were offered a ride by Michelle Jenneke, who had just completed her Alaskan adventure.

Because that’s the kind of story I’D tell.

I used the new AI tools on the native Samsung photo app and then did a few tweeks on the Lightroom app. This is the original photo.

Went down to Blackwater Falls State Park in Davis, WV for the Moonlight on the Falls Quarter Marathon and some camping. Took the camera bag with me, but, like an idiot, forgot the 24-120 f4. These pictures are with the 50 1.8. After I came home, immediately retooled the bag to have the 50 1.8, 70-200 2.8 and the 24-120 f4 in the bag with the D750.

I know!

Thats exactly what I’ve been telling everyone!

Of course, that didn’t keep me from adding it to my (meager) collection of “harmless weather instruments”. This one’s even more diabolical looking. And has Harmless printed in entirely too many places.

And wait until I find my Coast Guard radio buoy. It’s fire engine red, looks just like a rocket, has styrofoam fins, and has NON EXPLOSIVE printed all down the side.

ETA, this latest one has a USB port on the bottom, but I’m too chicken to plug it into the laptop.
