i love this kind of stuff. The US military is last redoubt of the old time anglo saxon victorian ideal of physical courage. In 1850, if you were a gentleman and somebody called you a coward, one of you was going to have to die. this kind of thing is a remaining vestige of that attitude. Actually stock car racing is also based on it, it's literally a contest of who can push the envelope the most. |

I would think that many microbes/ parasites wouldn't even have to get into your stomach; a cut in your mouth or lip would be enough to enter your bloodstream. But I'm no expert ,either. I have no idea what pathogens snakes may or may not carry. (And I bet those people don't, either.)
