So what's the story on the first picture and a helicoptor? Looks like something went through the ship?
ETA: Just read on Wikipedia that a bomb bounced UP through the ship, exited the helicopter deck, through the helicopter before finally harmlessly exploding. |

AWESOME... Love the FAL's and L1A1's
Argentina still bitches about that war. Kind of feel bad for the poor Argentine grunts left to fend for themselves after British sent the Argie Navy packing. |

Like what Teddy Roosevelt once said of a similar war.
"A splendid little war" |

Awesome photos. So many FALs!
What was the reason the Brits were fighting down there? I don't know too much about the conflict... |

Britain and Argentina both claim the Falklands/Malvinas as their own (though the British claim is the internationally recognized one). Every now and then, the Argentines get uppity about it. That time, they got REALLY uppity about it and invaded. |

All you need to know here Some interesting back stories - including the help the Israelis and French gave to the Argentines I couldn't see us getting the support from the current occupier of the White House... |

1. Obama wants to force the UK to give the Falklands to Argentina.
2. The Gen. Belgrano was formerly the USS Phoenix, an American cruiser that survived Pearl Harbor and WWII. |

Well let's see Argentina to Falkland Islands = 900+ miles, London Uk to Falkland Islands 7900+ miles. I don't know any of the history but that sure makes a hell of a lot of sense to me. |

They had ground attack fuses instead of anti ship fuses on their bombs. The British press was happy to report on this so the Argies could switch them up though. |

The people of the Falklands just voted overwhelmingly to stay British. Somerthing like 98% to 1%. Fuck Argentina. |

Because political boundaries should be drawn up based solely on distance from a given capital. I take it the United States will be handing Texas over to Mexico immediately. After all, Mexico City is 935 miles away from Austin, where as DC is 1523 miles. Self determination? Who needs it? |

It's actually about 350 miles. When the British set up a colony on the Falklands, A) Argentina was not a country, B) No one was living on the Falkland Islands. So, no recognized country laid claim to the uninhabited island until after the UK established their colony, so I guess it's "finders keepers" |
