In more than 90 percent of overdose deaths in southeastern Michigan, the individuals also tested positive for THC — the active ingredient in marijuana. #This was not the cause of death, but is just something more to think about when you hear someone say that marijuana isn’t dangerous, said April Demers of the Monroe County Substance Abuse Coalition. #“There are a lot of misconceptions going around. That’s why we’re focused on this problem. It may suggest that using marijuana may increase the likelihood that someone who uses marijuana may be more prone to make other choices that are life threatening,” she said.

Can't argue with the fact that getting high may aid in bad decision making, I will say that. I liked one of the comments in the article:

Incoming 900 comments from people that will argue medical facts but don't even have the intelligence to graduate high school.

People who abuse hard drugs also typically use marijuana and alcohol.  This shouldn't come as a surprise.

Correlation does not equal causation.

So people who died of an overdose were using all sorts of drugs?
That is an astonishing revelation.

having known a few hard drug users I would say most probably use pot/booze as well and there's little to no doubt it will impair already poor judgement but the THC found in their system is probably no more to blame than caffeine/sugar/nicotine found in their system.

Ah, the old "if you hate the drug war you are a drug user" line.

It's boring and inaccurate.  There have been folks on here and I will join them that will put $1,000 on the line over a drug test of your choice.  Of you believe so firmly in your position this is easy money for you.

I bet they like air too, those damn dopers. Better start treating those damn air lovers as criminals too, I mean being able to breathe means you stay conscious and can make 'high risk' decisions.

The upside to this, I think, is that even the drug warriors are starting to realize that the pot fight is just about lost. It's only a matter of time until the legalization efforts spread to other states and the federal level. The younger generation is far more permissive of it, and by and large doesnt understand it's being illegal. The drug warrior realize this and are grasping at straws at this point to justify the continuation of the WOD.

Well that's a bullshit article if I ever saw one.

It's akin to saying 90% of all those in overdose deaths owned guns.

One has nothing to do with the other at all - just someone trying to push an agenda on one thing based upon the effects of another. Pure ignorance.
