I did a report on Rhodesia, probably about 15 pages, if you'd like to read it give me your email and a couple days and I'll send it to you. Also, SOFREP did a really interesting write up on the Fire Force tactics. I also have a couple write ups I found that are saved on my lap top, I can post those up later.

Why do they all wear nut hanger shorts?

I would think combat with bare legs in brush and prickers would be problematic.

I have no idea.  My guide in Namibia wore the same shorts all day long and never bled.

Which it seemed to do throughout Africa, not to mention that it was the major cause of rapid decolonization in Africa which led to the issues which resulted in Rhodesia's UDI.  The U.S. totally screwed Africa over.

I love this pic as there has always been debate on the 30 rounders being used in the field.

I believe that's one of the 40-rounders that were made from two mags.  I know the RhAF used them.

I love these threads. My dad fought in the Rhodesian bush war, he has told me some awesome stories of his time in the war, he sometimes hesitates when he talks about some of his best mates who never came back.

He loves the FN rifle and and so badly wants to get one, he got to shoot one again a few years ago, I've never seen him look so young and full of piss and vinegar as I did that day, he had a blast.

EDIT It didn't work...Youtube link  Google 32 Battalion SADF on Youtube

I bring this up as they and the RLI were pretty much Brothers in Arms...

The rare dry season Rhodesian DPM.  It would work great where I live during the dry season (which is most of the year, and all of this year so far).  Regular Rhodesian DPM works great here as well, especially when we actually get a bit of green in (or in the wooded areas around here).

Wasn't there a post in another Rhodie thread about some guy who joined the US Army? They were in some formation, reciting how many jumps/combat jumps each guy had (5 jumps, 10 jumps, etc.) and when they got to him it was some crazy number in the dozens or even over 100?

I'd love to hear that again.

Could be wrong though.

Not sure about that, but there was a soldier who very recently retired from the U.S. Army who had fought in the Bush War in the RLI.

Some Rhodesian Army units did three combat jumps in a day and I think the record for a unit was somewhere in the 90s (not sure about individual records, but some guys had a lot of combat jumps).  They also did some pretty low jumps.  I recall reading about an instance where a RAR unit jumped at 300 feet and their commander sated that their canopies were only open for 9 seconds before they hit the ground.  Another instance I remember reading about involved another RAR unit which jumped at under 300 feet and it was reported that their canopies did not fully open until they had pretty much hit the ground.  Supposedly there was another case where an RLI unit started their jump at 250 feet and ended it with the last guys jumping out at around 200 feet.
