Admittedly, California is not the greatest place to live for a gun enthusiast. Actually, let's be honest... it downright sucks. Thought, it's not as bad as some states *COUGHNEWYORKCOUGH*. I'm essentially here involuntarily, but that's neighter here nor there. Regardless of the irrational crybaby fears of a lot of these idiotic treehuggers, we're still able to have some fun and a lot of our freedoms haven't been trampled on yet. I own an AR, and have only had to make two small modifications to make it legal here. I'm not in love with those mods by any means, but it's really better than nothing and moving simply isn't an option at this point. Still, virtually anything that you can put on an AR, I can legally own here (save for supressors, short barrels, and regular mag releases). I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the list of evil, scary banned manufacturers here, which is completely ridiculous in it's own right but not terribly difficult to work around.
Which brings me to my current gripe. It is a gripe that I share with many people I've come to discover. Cheaper than Dirt will not ship anything to me here. I've tried to order muzzle brakes (legal), range ammo (legal), a new grip (legal), 10 round mags (legal), rail covers (legal), BUIS (legal) and a host of other components, and always recieve the same message: Can not deliver to your area code. Turns out they just downright refuse to ship anything here (as far as I've discovered, anyway). Now, California is the highest populated state in the country at 38.3 million people, and is SECOND ONLY TO TEXAS in the number of gun owners. CTD is clearly not hurting for business, but they're also potentially excluding a MASSIVE customer base by refusing to ship anything here--a refusal for which there seems to be no logical reason. You rarely hear of a business that doesn't want to make more money. So, I'd like to know your thoughts/theories/inside knowledge. |

I would rather do without, than order from CTD, and I'm in MO.
Start cruising the EE and buy the shit you need from there. |
|
|
Maybe it has to do with the fact that just about everything is regulated in some way in California, and the state is replete with AGs who would love to file civil actions across state lines for BS reasons.
I don't blame any gun/ammo/accessories company who won't ship anything to CA, or NY, NJ, IL, MA, etc... |

Your anger is misdirected, it should lie with your lawmakers. CTD just said fuck it we aren't chancing shipping a banned item to California.
|
|
There's lots of companies that just fuck off when it comes to California and it's retardedness. Blame your shithole state, CTD.

Regardless, Californians still desire and are able to acquire things from virtually every other company. It just mystifies me why a company would shut out millions of potential customers. |

So far, they're the only one I've come across that has a blanket policy of denial. The only other things I've really seen is some smaller outfits hesitant to ship ammo here... |

I dont blame them, too much work to wade through the convoluted laws of states like California for the small amount of potential customers.
As a rule, I wont buy FROM California if I can avoid it. |

Too bad all freedom loving companies don't do the same to the communist areas.

CTD has problems but California is a problem.
What company would want to do business in a state where they might get sued for some bullshit random whim? Sorry, but your state sucks. CTD has simply made a business decision. |

In the days (and months) after Sandy Hook happened, people were panic-buying any gun-related thing they could get their hands on. Meanwhile, CTD was busy price-gouging the holy living fuck out of all of their customers. They were basically the only ones who had AR mags, ammo, "cool" firearms, etc. in stock on a regular basis and so they set their prices for astronomical, knowing that people would pay whatever they asked because lots of people thought AR's would be banned federally and this was their last chance to get one or to get mags. CTD was charging $600 for a 100rd Beta Mag, $140 for a standard PMag, and $100 for used USGI mags. You could buy a standard, bottom-shelf AR from them for maybe $3k if they had one in stock. It was pretty fucking disgusting, especially considering the blatant irony of their business name. Fuck CTD. Now you've been informed, OP. |

Op if you're looking for $98 USGI mags I got you covered. I'll give you an arfcom discount and let them go @$75 each. Let me know

They used to not ship to me either. I found a great way to solve that problem.

CTD can choke on a bag of dicks.
California still sucks, though. |

If CTD was $5 less than Brownells on an item I would still buy it from Brownells.
Oh, did I mention......... FUCK CTD! |

Do you suppose anyone took them up on their $140 PMAG steals?

This is a blessing in disguise. CTD is a horrible company. Please stop doing business with them.

Hahaa. Dunno why you can't have nice things over there, but I am sure someone out there will sell you a shiny death weapon part.

Find another vendor. They are overprice during normal times and then when panic starts their supply goes down and their prices inversely proportionally go up and that pisses everyone off here. They all get butthurt because CTD follows the simple rules of economics. Long story short you will not get a good answer here.
