That was painful to watch. I could have sat through that inquiry and sounded better informed and I am no expert. One of Jay Leno's :man on the street" interviews would have gone better.

Proof once again you don't need expertise to hold a political appointment. Just do enough fundraising and campaigning and the job is the payback.

I could be Agriculture Secretary even though I don't know squat about farming if I gave or raised enough money. I could even head NASA even though electricity is a mystery to me and darn if all those stars don't look exactly alike.

She was hand picked because she wouldn't be able to give hard numbers or answer hard questions. She is actually telling the truth when she says "I don't know", which is exponentially better than repeatedly saying "Under advice from legal council, I am utilizing my rights granted under the 5th amendment blahblahblah..." That won't make the nightly news. Worst case scenario for the administration, they have another hearing with the next person up the ladder, who will only know slightly more.

She even said that at the end of the second video, "Sir, I am a career DHS employee..." as part of her defense in not knowing one single number for any of the questions they asked.
