Kind of reminds me of the ACR almost, with a bit of the Beretta AR-100 tossed in.
The rifle is named “AK-Alfa”, after the famous Russian special forces team. It comes chambered in 7.62×39, takes AK magazines, and will come in 16.338? (415mm) and 12.362? (314mm) barreled versions. None of the prototypes shown at the show (all of which obviously relied on rapid prototyped components) evidently featured KeyMod holes in the handguards, but that feature is shown on one of the rifles in Richard’s article. The gun’s features include: An adjustable cheek rest An adjustable buttstock Modular, swappable buttpads Modular pistol grip contour Sealed, waterproof battery compartment in the grip Ambidextrous magazine release Ambidextrous, AR-15-style 90-degree throw safety Left/right swappable charging handle Interchangeable charging handle profiles Forearm with removable Picatinny rail sections http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/01/19/kalashnikov-usas-new-ak-alfa-rifle/ ![]() ![]() |

Need to see what it looks like with the paki-tape on it to know if I want it.
Oh god why? Is it super light weight?
Maybe if it accepted modern stocks, grips, triggers, etc??? |
Shit, I kinda like it. If it doesn't cost an arm and a leg... I'd probably pick one up around $800, maybe $900... but hopefully they are using existing components (barrels, gas parts, bolts, carriers, trunions, etc) and cam make them cheap.
I'd probably use one as my primary 'play' gun... because the ammo is still cheaper than 5.56. |
Any chance that little square is a bolt release for a bolt-hold open feature?

Looks like you can put the charging handle on the left, I like it.

I kinda like it.
Would be interested if the price is right, but im sure it will be $1500 or some crazy shit like that |
I love the big slot in the back to let all the dirt into the action.
But seriously, that mag release is a nice change. |
Wonder if it will pull a G-36 POI shift, or just blow the trunion out faster?
I like it.
Price? Accuracy? If it still shoots MOB, then fuck it. If it's comparable to an AR and under $900, I'll take it. |

I really hate that stock design, no matter what its attached to. Just looks too much like a boot.
But I guess you don't have to worry about the front sight being canted. ![]() |

So an AK fucked a Beretta ARX160, and this is what came out?
Russians and Italians make interesting babies. |

I'd pay $800 for a modern design rather than $300 worth of stamped steel and 70-year-old technology.
I assume the barrel is pressed in but have not been able to find info. It would be great if the barrel were swappable and they offered a short barrel with pinned 74 brake.
"Modernized" should not mean "updated." It should mean, "now capable of continuous modification."
ETA: I guess what I mean is designing a better stock isn't near the improvement designing a better stock attachment method would be. Adjustable but non-replaceable features are a step in the wrong direction. |
All those design changes and it still takes shitty "rock in to lock in", non drop free mags.

It looks like an AK and a SCAR had drunk sex and that is what popped out.

Goddamn that thing looks awful. I mean it's ugly, but it also looks like it still sucks to use.

Certain Canadians will be sad....It's already been Tapco-fucked.
